Question about Epson LX-300 Matrix Printer

POOR RINT QUALITY ON 4 PART INVOICE/DELIVERY PAPER

The print on the third & fourth copies of the 4 part paper is very faint even after putting a new ribbon into the machine, I have just received a new box of this paper and it seems to be worse since starting with this .
We have also installed a new job costing accounts package but do not feel this is the problem as the printing was ok until starting this new box.
Is there a way I can enhance the pronter from within the printing programme? or fromt the printer itself.
I have also noticed that the second line of the address is printing in italic font where all other details are as normal, why is this?

SRibbon wont effect multi part forms, well it will only effect the top one. Most dot matrix printers also have a impression adjustment, sounds like you need to increase yours.. it brings the print head closer to the platen.

It could also be the paper, not having much carbon to print the next part.

I've also notice you ask a lot and suggest you may need more than simple one line free answers.

Font problem will be program or print driver or even possible printer default settings (read printers user manual) .ie.font used by software is probally not supported on 2nd line so a default font is used

Once you have read manula you will find and know how to change print quality ie draft or LQ.

After reading manual you should also discover you can do print quality adjustments via the oprint driver.

Poor print quality


Several checks:
- Just saying...Ribbon sometimes is placed in the wrong sense and it doesn't print.
- Verify the settings at printer driver. Download a powerful Driver from here: http://www.nicelabel.es/downloads/nicelabel-designer-pro/?uid=10004, and test the darkness option by printing with different measures at each time.
- If that doesn't work, we can check it again, but you should first test this options.

Why is print quality poor after inserting new ink. Copies are faint and have lines


the cartridge is clogged with ink that has dried and reduced the slit. you need to replace the cartridge with a new one. it happens usually if you recharge the cartridge 3 or 4 times with compatible ink.

Poor print quality of images on envelopes


clean the print head 3 times,then realign the head .these are done by printer utility software given with the printer.
Even not ok.
Then Replace the New Catridge.(manufactured from within 3 of 4 months).because the ink will be dried with in 6 month.So Buy Carefully with Mfd Date.

The outgoing faxes are becoming unreadable, any idea as to why this is occuring and what we can do to fix it?


I will look it up in the morning, I don't have that information with me at the moment, But there is a scanner calibration you can do to correct it.
You have to enter some codes and simply run white paper through the scanner to reset the values. But off hand I can't remember the exact numbers. I will get look them up and send it on here.
It is not hard to do at all. Will take about 2 or 3 minutes.

Copier acted like it needed new toner cartridge, but when I replaced, copies are still very faded. When I adjust for darker copy, then I end up with dark shadows. This is Canon PC 921.


the 1st thing you need to determine is where the faint copies are coming from. is it copies or prints (from your PC.

if its the just the copies that are faint it is could be due to the optic section (these are the mirrors in the scan unit). if you have these cleaned with either an alcohol or ipa solvent this should bring your copy quality back to normal.
if you are having faint prints then it could be 1 of 2 things. either the transfer section (in laymen terms it pulls the toner from the drum onto the paper) has a poor connection/needs replacing. the other reason for this could be the charge unit that will be situated next to the drum. this over time will need to be serviced. be carefull with this part 1stly as the drun cant be in the light for to long and 2ndly the charge wire is a very fine and delicate wire. this can be cleaned and could get copy/print quality back to stardard, all that this needs to solve the problen is a service (clean charge wire and transfer roller or replece parts.

Duplex printing 1
The supplied printer driver supports duplex printing.
Guidelines for printing on both sides of the paper 1
�� If the paper is thin, it may wrinkle.
�� If paper is curled, turn over the stack, straighten it and then put it back in the paper tray or the Manual Feed
Slot.
�� If the paper is not feeding properly, it may be curled. Remove the paper, straighten it and turn over the
stack.
�� When you use the manual duplex function, it is possible that there may be paper jams or poor print quality.
If there is a paper jam, see Paper jams in the User’s Guide. If you have a print quality problem, see
Improving the print quality in the User’s Guide.
Manual duplex printing 1
The machine prints all the even-numbered pages on one side of the paper first. Then, the Windows® driver
instructs you (with a pop-up message) to reinsert the paper. Before reinserting the paper, straighten it well,
or you may get a paper jam. Very thin or thick paper is not recommended.
Simultaneous scanning, printing and faxing 1
Your machine can print from your computer while sending or receiving a fax in memory, or while scanning a
document into the computer. Fax sending will not be stopped during PC printing. However, when the machine
is copying or receiving a fax on paper, it pauses the PC printing operation, and then continues printing when
copying or fax receiving has finished.


�� Manual Duplex
Check Manual Duplex. In this mode, the machine prints all the even numbered pages first. Then the
printer driver stops and shows the instructions required to re-install the paper. When you click OK the odd
numbered pages are printed. There are six types of manual duplex binding directions available for each
orientation.
�� Booklet Printing
When you want to print a booklet, use this function. To make the booklet, fold the printed pages down the
middle.
�� Binding Offset
If you check the Binding Offset option, you can also specify the offset for binding in inches or millimeters

Poor Printer Quality


If you have the old drum put it back in and see what happens to the copy. if is better, then yu may have a bad new drum. They do have them. Poor copy quality is normally drum or toner in these Brothers. This model is an excellent machine by the way.

If Sale Line 100 is an Excel Template then it is simple.

The Templates are just preformatted spreadsheets which are edited just like any other spreadsheet.

If you mean that you are using the Template to create another document but wanting all the fields to be the same as the Invoice then I suggest the following method:

Copy the Template fron Worksheet 1 onto Worksheet 2.

Add and remove any fields that you wnt to add or remove (Prices would be deleted on this copy and the title would be changed from Invoice to Delivery Docket, etc)

Then (on Worksheet 2) in the fields that you want to be the same - click on the cell you want the same Data in and hit the = sign. Then go to Worksheet 1 and Click on the cell that you want the data to be the same. Hit Enter. This will send you back to Worksheet 2 and you will see that any data entered into the cell in Worksheet 1 will now also appear in Worksheet 2.

Repeat this process for all the cells you want copied from worksheet 1.

When you complete the data in Worksheet 1 (the Invoice) all the data selected will automatically appear in the cells selected on Worksheet 2.

Try this on worksheet 2 select cell A1, type =, then open worksheet 1 and select B1. You will be returned to worksheet 2 and the formula in cell A1 will now read =Sheet1!A1. Enter anything into Shhet 1 A1 and you will see that it appears in the appropriate cell on Sheet 2.

When you want to print off the Invoice and the Delivery Docket - you only have to open each Worksheet and hit Print and a copy of each worksheet will be printed giving you an Invoice and a Delivery Docket with the appropriate info on each printout (eg if you exclude prices from the Del. Docket then after completing all the details in the Invoice will create a Del Docket with all the relevant information other than the prices.

Faint print or colour missing V V URGENT


I'm not an expert on these but I'd guess either the high voltage unit or LED laser PSU are suffering from an intermittent problem. If you're lucky it's just a loose connector - but I'll bet you've already tried re-seating every connector you can find :)
