Please show much higher compatible microprocessors

As per my concern if u want to replace & ugrade all the parts then u take a NVIDIA motherboard only because , the fx5500 videocard is of NVIDIA geforce company only thats why it will suit the motherboard itself & also nvidia provides 256MB onboard videocard so if u keep fx5500 videocard free it will be all right
Let me know is this helpful to u or not

Is the asrock k7vm2 motherboard easily replace by the k7vm4 asrock. my k7vm2 is dead and replacements are not easy to come by. I'm just looking for a new mother board to hook up to my hard drive and not...

Hi,

You may be able to just swap out the motherboard for a K7VM4 motherboard but some of the specs are different like the chipset and graphics etc.

K7VM4 specs as follows >>>>

  1. Socket A(462) for AMD processor
  2. VIA® KM400 Chipset
  • ASRock U-COP
  • Hybrid Booster - a safe overclocking feature
  • FSB 333/266/200, DDR 333/266/200
  • Integrated UniChrome 3D Graphic.
  • 1 slot for AGP 8X/4X 1.5V
  • ASROCK I/O - default 4 ready-to-use USB2.0 ports on rear panel, default Game/MIDI port.
  • ATA 133 supported
  • On board default 10/100 LAN and 5.1-Ch Audio.
K7VM2 specs as follows >>>>>>>

  1. Socket A(462) for AMD processor
  2. VIA® KM266 Chipset
  • ASRock U-COP
  • DDR 266/200
  • Integrated ProSavarage8 3DGraphic.
  • 1 slot for AGP 4X/2X universal.
  • Supports both DDR and SDRAM memory modules to provide you best flexibility and save your cost.
  • ASROCK I/O - default 4 ready-to-use USB2.0 ports on rear panel, default Game/MIDI port.
  • ATA 133 supported
  • On board default 10/100LAN and Audio.

As you can see the graphics and chipsets are different although the processor sockets are the same.

This could cause problems if you are going to plug the hard drive to another board but saying that is is possibe and has been done before.

This is a chance you take when you swap out a board for a different motherboard although i suspect that the transition should go smoothly.

A fairly old motherboard like K7VM4 or K7VM2 will not cost that much these days. You will find both motherboards for sale on eBay.

Regards.

Try with one by one the memory sticks at the slots just by the CPU to see if the sticks are ok.

Turn on power nothing on my monitor, black ...

you semm have replaced any component in your motherboard eccept two, monitor and motherboard itself. try to put your new component in similar mother board begining with cpu ram vga, and put in output in same monitor (you must be hure that second motherboard is working) if nothing is coming try second monitor for output, if nothing is coming and have maybe beeps, one of your component that you have puted is defektive so try to replace them one by one. is not necesary to buy new component just try in other friend eith his parts afterthat if you finded defekyive component replace it in *********** board, (or if *********** board is defektive you must replace him, or monitor too if the problem is in monitor)

Wish to increase cpu spped and memory

Hi thefuncouple, here is the ASRock link for supported CPU's:
http://www.asrock.com/mb/cpu.asp?Model=K7VM2&s=462
The Athlon XP 2600+ CPU is the highest CPU this board can support. (It will be hard to find one).
Main web site for the K7VM2: http://www.asrock.com/mb/download.asp?Model=K7VM2

Honestly, ASRock does not have drivers for Vista. Some of the drivers listed for XP may work with Vista. Your best chance is to download & run Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor 1.0
(Before installing Vista in to your system).
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=42b5ac83-c24f-4863-a389-3ffc194924f8&DisplayLang=en
Vista, any version needs at least 1GB of memory. Two GB is recommended. After running Upgrade Advisor you will know if your ASRock motherboard can handle Vista. You should be able to upgrade to Vista (Over-writing XP) but only if your system passes the Upgrade Advisor.
Your best bet would be to buy a new system with Vista on it. Your ASRock board is just too old for Vista. You'll save money upgrading to a more supportive PC.

Good luck thefuncouple!
Vista is not for everyone, many users end up going back to XP.
Thank you for using fixya.
