The IR Reciever is faulty if it is an 08' model, the serial number will indicate the manufacturer's date of production. The digits 5,6,7, and 8 are the keys. 5 and 6 is the week of the 78 year.

Have a technician replace the IR Board to solve the problem.

I can't control the volume of the t.v. with the remote control.

Sounds like either the remote control or the TV has broken. Suggest you contact Philips support for help at: http://www.support.philips.com/support/contact/contact_page.jsp?userCountry=us&userLanguage=en

Philips remote doesnt work

Check the remote control for its infrared emission. Check it with fresh batteries. Clean the battery contacts inside the battery compartment. Check them for any rust or dust accumulated. If you wish to get more details about how to check a remote control, check this link. If remote control is found OK, the infrared sensor inside the TV should be checked and replaced.

Suddenly without any problems for almost 2 years my remote control stopped working. I replaced the batteries, and still would not work. I went to Radio Shack and bought a universal remote, but I have tried...

I have very good luck with the Philips universal remote. The model number of the remote is SRP1003/27. I would suggest you find one the next time you are a a large discount store. The model number is near the upc code. Thanks for asking and show all hands of support!

Hello, you need to make sure what is broken, the remote control or the TV. To check the integrity of the remote control, you need to broadcast from the remote control while he aimed at the video camera. If you see a flicker of light through the camera it shows the integrity of the remote control. After you've found What's wrong, Contact me and I will guide you from there.

Philips TV HDMI CEC EasyLink tries to control Cable set top box

I finally found a fix to this! YAY. I thought I might have to return the TV. I have the Phillips 42PFL5603D, but should work for other models.

On the TV press menu picture settings---picture---dynamic contrast (turn off) AND active control, turn off
If you have Comcast Moto box: on the Cable box go menu--->setup--->cablebox set up---RF BYbass set to ON
If you have a non-Comcast Moto Box, I'm sure there is an RF bypass setting in the menu. You'll just have to look for it. Another fix was close saying to only turn of the active control, but it took all 3 of these for it to work consistently. The latter let it work for all of 30 seconds.

Cannot program remote control to receiver

You should have direct tv replace both units for you, They are providing the service and it is their responsibility to keep their customer up and working. A battery change should not affect the use of the product. There must be something wrong with the receiver if it cannot operate correctly after such a normal use from the user as a battery change. I hope this helps you with your problem.
