I´m also getting error 5f08 5e02 on my screen.

  • Anonymous Mar 07, 2009

I have the same problem, I tried all the suggestions in this space but non of them worked!
Any other idea?? I phoned Olympus and they will fix it for a flat fee of $146 and change, but I think that it is a problem with the camera and not the usage (Mine was babied at all time) and that it should be fixed by the company at no charge...

I press power on and the camera makes grinding noises, lense extends, retracts while the screen shows a blurry picture and then the blue screen displays
    D :
    5 f 08
    5 e 02

I tried the remove battery and hold on button for 10 seconds but that did not work. This seems to be a software error.

SOURCE: camera olympus error D: 5f08 5e02

The error message (D: 5e02) means that your lens is dying / dead. It just happened to mine and I was told that it could be repaired, but it would cost as much as a new camera. I've only had mine 2 years and I've been really careful with it, so I'm a bit annoyed, but I have used it a lot!

SOURCE: Olympus Stylus 710 Error: D: 5f08 5f0a 5e02 5f08 5e02

this is the most common problem with the olympus cameras the lens has been knocked and by you pulling on the lens it sounds like you have done some damage to the motor that bring the lens in and out thats why its making that noise what you needed to do was move the lens either to the left or the right you will no when its fixed because the lens just pops out and the camera will be fine this works every time i just hope you havnt done to much damage alredy goodluck

The problem you are describing is a problem with a sensor in the lens assembly of the camera. It seems to have failed and needs to be replaced. Following are the instructions to send your camera to Olympus for service. http://olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/cpg_servicerepair.asp Olympus will charge a flat rate repair fee for this product if beyond the one year factory warranty or the warranty is voided. The cost is $86 plus your local sales tax. This covers parts and labor, factory cleaning and diagnostic check, 6 month warranty and the cost of shipping the product back to you is all included in that price.

SOURCE: error code 5f08 and 5e02 on olympus stylus 710

If the camera makes a whirring noise when switched on then unfortunately from the many threads on this issue the problem appears to be with the poor quality materials used by Olympus. The lens gearing mechanism is plastic and if it is obstructed whilst extending then the gears can become damaged or slip out of alignment. As per feedback from many other users the cost of repair and likelihood of a re-occurrance are reasons to dump the camera and go for a more reliable make. (Or try thumping it which appears to work in some cases !!)
This being a 2nd bad experience with Olympus quality they are well and truly off my list of preferred suppliers

Write protect error

You neglected to specify the model of your Olympus camera, so I'm assuming it uses SD/SDHC cards.

SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

Even after putting a new fully charged battery camera shows battery empty

The reason you are still getting this error despite the fact that you've placed a new fully charged battery means that the battery is not compatible with the camera. The fact that it states this is because the battery isn't capable of handling the Olympus camera. I would suggest for you to buy a recommended battery pack by Olympus, or a rechargeable battery pack to avoid these errors.

How do i get my Olympus D560 to use an xD M+ memory card? I keep getting card error message.

Hi,

The Olympus compatibility chart on their website says that your camera works with type M and M+ sizes 256MB - 512MB.
The chart also says 256MB - 512MB for type H and 16MB - 512MB for standard xD cards.
It looks like the largest size xD you can use of any type is 512MB.
The D560 is quite an early digital camera and it is not unusual to have card size limitations.

My olympus fe 230 shows card error when i open it

If you knowing that there are no images on the memory card, format the card in your camera. If it has images on it, try getting them downloaded to your computer before trying to format the card. I've seen formatting a card fix this type of issue.

My Olympus Master 2 software won't even load now!

Please can you try to remove the memory card from the camera and using a card reader try to access the pictures. It is also one of the safest ways to access the pictures rather than using a USB cable.

Let me know if you were able to succeed.
All the best .
