The light above the Start/Resume button flashes continuously. Buttons do not respond when pressed.

If you've got two printer heads (cartridges) try removing one, check flashinf replace and remove second, check flasing
If stops flashing, the problem is with the electronic circuir of the cartridge and you should buy a new one

Computer wont recognize printer, power light flashing

The flashing of the power light indicates a problem in the cartridge/s. Try to remove your cartridges from the printer > close the printer cover > unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset > when the printer turns on, reinsert one cartridge first > check the behavior of the power light. If power light does not blink, open the printer cover again and reinsert the other cartridge. Replace whichever cartridge is causing the power light to blink with a new genuine Lexmark supply.

It's giving the error message 'Print cartridge has a problem'. I have removed and checked the cartridges and both seem fine. The printer will not allow me to carry out a self check print. On the printer...

Well, we cannot judge a cartridge by looking on the exterior surface, it's not even possible to know whether it's really dead or it's just pretending :-). We can only check them by trying it on another printer or replacing another cartridge. Even if it looks great and no physical detected/seen externally, it might have a faulty inside.

First, remove both the cartridges, clean the contacts on both the cartridges and on the printer using a cotton or other cleaning material dipped in alcohol or acetone or spirit. Never touch the print heads, they are fragile and easily damaged, moreover it's not repairable. After you are sure that the contacts are cleaned and dried, reinstall them and try again. If the problem persists with the same error. You better get another cartridge/s.

If the new cartridge/s don't work, then the printer needs to be serviced. It's contacts seem not receiving the signal from the motherbaord or there's a continuity problem. You last option is to call HP.

Good luck

Thanks for using FixYa.

Teardrop light is flashing yellow. Green clock at left is lighted. Control panel says everything is ready but it won't print. There is no paoper jam.

Hi there,

This light that is showing the Print Cartridge Status. Here is what you can do:

If the light is on and not flashing: Check to see if a print cartridge is low on ink. If a print cartridge is low on ink, consider replacing the print cartridge. If neither print cartridge is low on ink, press the Resume button. If the Print Cartridge Status light remains on, turn off, then turn on the printer.

If the light is on and flashing: Verify that the correct print cartridges are installed.

Follow these steps:
1. Open the printer's top cover, remove the black or photo print cartridge, then close the cover.
2. Do one of the following:
  • If the light is flashing: Open the top cover, replace the print cartridge you removed, then remove the tri-color print cartridge. Go to step 3.
  • If the light is off: There is a problem with the print cartridge you removed. Go to step 3.
3. Manually clean the print cartridge.
After cleaning the print cartridge, reinsert it into the printer. If the print cartridge status light continues to flash, replace the print cartridge.if the light is on and not flashing. Check to see if a print cartridge is low on ink. If a print cartridge is low on ink, consider replacing the print cartridge.

Error 1203

hi..

error 1203 means either or both cartridges have short circuited and needs replacement..

You will need to perform the following steps to find out which cartridge is defective:

1. With the printer turned ON, open the front cover and remove both cartridges from the printer.
2. Power the printer OFF and unplug the power cable for 30 seconds. Plug the power cable back in and turn ON the printer.
3. If the error message is now cleared from the printer, please perform the "Self-Test" by following the steps below:
{
1. Make sure the printer is in “Copy Mode.”
2. Press the “Menu” button once.
3. The screen will display “Copy Menu: Copies”.
4. Press the left arrow button once. The screen will display “Copy Menu: Tools”.
5. Press the check button once. The screen with read “Tools: Maintenance”.
6. Press the check button once. The screen with read “Maintenance: Ink Levels”.
7. Press the right arrow button until the screen reads “Maintenance: Print Test Page”.
8. Press the check button once. This will start the Self-Test. Once the page has printed, the printer will stop. The test is not continuous.
}

If the printer has detected a "Cartridge Missing" error, then please follow the steps given below:

1. Turn the power OFF.
2. Open the front cover.
3. Turn the power back ON. The print cartridge carrier should move to the install position located in the middle of the printer. If it does not, close and reopen the cover:
4. Reseat both cartridges in the printer and check for the error.
5. If the error still displays, then remove the color print cartridge.
6. Close the cover.
7. If there is no error indicated by flashing lights, the color cartridge has short-circuited.
8. However, if you continue to get an error, repeat steps 1-3, and then go to step 9.
9. Remove the black print cartridge and reinsert the color cartridge.
10. If there is no error indicated by flashing lights, the black cartridge has short-circuited.
11. If you continue to receive an error in both cartridge scenarios, both print cartridges have short-circuited.

Problem on a canon 3100

The Power Light Flashes Orange - Error Codes When an error occurs, the power light flashes orange. The number of orange flashes followed by a long green flash indicates the cause of the problem.
Two orange flashes: Out of paper, paper jam, or paper feed error
If no paper is loaded in the auto sheet feeder, or if the paper is not loaded correctly, set the paper correctly and press the Resume button on the printer to continue printing.
Three orange flashes: Paper jam
If paper has jammed in the printer, carefully remove the jam and press the Resume button to continue printing.
Four orange flashes: A tank inside the BJ cartridge (print head) is out of ink
Replace the empty BJ tank and press the Resume button to continue printing.
Five orange flashes: BJ cartridge is not installed properly
Remove and reseat the cartridge correctly. Make sure the orange protective cap and tape have been removed. Make sure the blue locking lever is locked down securely.
Six orange flashes: BJ cartridge (printhead) is not installed
Remove and reseat the cartridge correctly. Make sure the orange protective cap and tape have been removed. Make sure the blue locking lever is locked down securely.
Seven orange flashes: BJ cartridge (printhead) is defective
Remove the BJ cartridge and check that the contacts on the cartridge and cartridge holder are clean. Make sure the orange protective cap and tape have been removed and reinstall the cartridge. If the error occurs again after you resume operation, you may need to replace the BJ cartridge.
Eight orange flashes: Waste ink absorber almost full
The printer has a built-in waste ink absorber to hold the ink that is consumed during print head cleaning. This error indicates that the waste ink absorber is nearly full. Press the Resume button to skip the error so you can continue printing.
The POWER light flashes orange and green alternately: Service error
A service error means the printer requires the attention of a qualified technician. Count the number of flashes. (You may be asked this information.)

Remove and check cartridge keeps flashing, wont stop flashing, even after in remove cartriges and replace them

I've found out what was wrong. My cartridges expired. HP has put a "limit" on how long your cartridges last. They do this to try to prevent refilling. Cartridges typically last for a little less than two years after the expiry date listed on them.

You can fix this (as I did) by buying a couple of new cartridges # 56 and #57. They sell them together in the same pack for 50-something bucks in Walmart.

Hope this helps.

The BJC 3000 will flash two different colored lights in a pattern to signal several different errors. From the documentation I have the two colors are orange and green, could those be the colors you see? At any rate here is the code: Two orange flashes: Out of paper, paper jam, or paper feed error. If no paper is loaded in the auto sheet feeder, or if the paper is not loaded correctly, set the paper correctly and press the Resume button on the printer to continue printing. Three orange flashes: Paper jam. If paper has jammed in the printer, carefully remove the jam and press the Resume button to continue printing. Four orange flashes: A tank inside the BJ cartridge (print head) is out of ink. Replace the empty BJ tank and press the Resume button to continue printing. Five orange flashes: BJ cartridge is not installed properly. Remove and reseat the cartridge correctly. Make sure the orange protective cap and tape have been removed. Make sure the blue locking lever is locked down securely. Six orange flashes: BJ cartridge (printhead) is not installed. Remove and reseat the cartridge correctly. Make sure the orange protective cap and tape have been removed. Make sure the blue locking lever is locked down securely. Seven orange flashes: BJ cartridge (printhead) is defective. Remove the BJ cartridge and check that the contacts on the cartridge and cartridge holder are clean. Make sure the orange protective cap and tape have been removed and reinstall the cartridge. If the error occurs again after you resume operation, you may need to replace the BJ cartridge. Eight orange flashes: Waste ink absorber almost full. Press the Resume button to skip the error so you can continue printing. The POWER light flashes orange and green alternately: Service error.
