Question about Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ7 Digital Camera
I was using my camera and everything was fine. I turned it off and then saw something else I wanted to take a photo of. I turned the camera back on and the lens cover did not fully open. It opens only a crack. I can push it all the way open with my fingers, but it does not stay open. The camera still functions normally, otherwise--zooming and even taking photos of a crack of light. I've turned it off and on several times but nothing helps. I was on a boat at the time on my off of an island in Thailand. What can I do to fix the problem?
Hey how you doin.
I had the same problem during a trip around Australia, some bull dust built up around the lens area. The only thing I did to rectify the problem was to blow it out with a tyre inflator at a road house when I stopped for petrol. No problem since then.
You may have some fine sand wedged in the cover area aswel.
Good luck 'R'

I also had this problem, and it was also fixed with a Q-tip. the reason i had the problem is the flaps worked their way intot eh wrong order, like a fan that won't close until all the fans are in the right order.

I started poking around the lens cover thing with Q-tips to try to see if there was some way I could figure out how to fix it. I eventually got a little frustrated and just sort of whacked it with the Q-tip and they came open all the way! I turned it off and then back on again and they were still only open a crack. I flicked it again and it stayed open and has opened just fine since then. Hopefully this is a permanent fix to some sort of wonky problem. But realistically, I think it might just poop out at some point. But I'm carrying Q-tips in my camera case now!
