Question about HP Compaq nx6110 Notebook
I have been trying to go past the unknown power-on password for hp compaq nx6110. I followed the procedure on the manual, by removing the rtc bettery to reset the cmos and password, for approximately 5 min. I also tried removing the battery for approximately 8 hours. But after such a long time, the memory was not cleared. What else can I do besides sending the motherboard to the manufacturer or using any risky or expensive software?
Did you do all these steps in order?
1) Remove the computer power pack battery. Remove the keyboard.
2) Remove the RTC battery. Wait 5 minutes. (I would wait longer, maybe 15 minutes.)
3) Reinstall the RTC battery. Reinstall the keyboard.
4) Plug the AC power into the computer. (DO NOT INSTALL THE POWER PACK BATTERY AT THIS POINT)
5) Turn on the computer.
This should reset the password and also all CMOS settings.
