Try reinstalling the heat sink and putty on GPU. Make sure heat sink is fitting correctly. If the only thing you did was upgrade the fans and redo the putty, then your heat sink didn't seat properly.

The GPU in every laptop is soldered in place, if you have a lot of experience with reflowing then you can try to pull the GPU and replace it but a lot of the time it's actually more cost effective to get a replacement MB and sell the one that's having issues. Because the GPU may not be the only part that has gone out or it maybe another part that has gone out and is keeping the GPU from powering or outputting signals

How to replace the graphics card in my samsung np sf510 laptop

Replacing the graphics processing unit is a tricky business which involves disassembling and reassembing the virtually the whole unit.

I would reccomend a professional do the upgrade unless you are familar with notebook assembly.

Firstly make sure that the graphics card can be upgraded in the first place as they some-times form part of the computer's mainboard. Consult google in this regard.

Disassemble the unit to expose the CPU, Mainboard and Graphic Card. Usually these componets share a cooling assembly. You will need to carefully remove this.

Now remove the screw/clip that secures the GPU to the mainboard, then remove the card from the mainboard. Now pop your new one in and reinstall the cooling assembly applying new thermal interface material to CPU, Mainboard and GPU.

Reassemble the unit.

Take care!

Upgrade HP Compaq Presario F750US - CPU, GPU & RAM

You'll spend more money trying to upgrade this laptop then it would cost to just buy a better used one on eBay. Probably even spend more that it would cost to buy a new low end computer. Save yourself the headaches and time and buy a NEW laptop.

My dv6000 will power up and go back off

This model of laptop has an overheating problem. This problem affect the Nvidia GPU and cause that issue. You have two options, one cheap and one expensive.

The cheap one is that you must overheat the Nvidia GPU, in order to resolde it again. This procedure you can make it with a Heat Gun. I mean you need to extract the motherboard and apply the heat directly to the GPU 90 seconds max. Put all the pieces together again (dont forget to apply thermal paste to CPU and GPU) and when the laptop turn on again, go to the HP website and download the las Bios update to your model.
This solution give you as long time as you work with your laptop fresh. You can download the CORETEMP application, to keep watching the CPU temperture.
Cost: $ 20 Heat Gun (harbor freight), $ 7 new thermal paste (for the CPU and GPU)

The expensive one is send your computer to a authorize service center and ask for a reballing repair to your GPU. Cost may be $ 200.

If you need more details, let me know. GOOD LUCK

Laptop freezing acer aspire 5520

If you are carrying it around, and you are getting black lines across the screen, you have a lot more than thermal pads to be concerned with. The connections inside are breaking down and arcing. (That's what the ssszzzzzzzZZZTTT noise is).. Unless you are good at repairing printed circuit boards, you should take it to a repair shop.

Monitor shuts off of the computer then stays on then goes off .

Does it shut off with absolutely no warning sounds whatsoever?

Do you ever hear a faint PC beeper alarm that kinda sounds like a ambulance siren (you know... kinda like a WEEEE. ORRRRR... WEEEE... ORRRR)

My main suspect at this stage is OVERTEMP (you are overheating the CPU).

Possible Causes: Recently UPGRADED components (especially VIDEO)

Build up of dust in Case and CPU heatsink and GPU heatsink or CPU fan has failed or one or some case fans have failed.

Do you know how to check your CPU temp in BIOS? If it happens again check it out.... greater than 90 degrees is usually bad.

Check all your fans are spinning, check you don't have 'caked up' dust on your heatsinks.

If you have recently upgraded a major component that is dumping heat into you case... investigate a new case fan to extract this heat (cheapest option) or you may want to pick up an aftermarket CPU heatsink and fan (Thermalright FTW!!!!!!!)
