Sign up for the Toshiba Satellite 1800/1805 Series Rebate Settlement.

They sold you a lemon. I got the same thing, and I can't fix it--although they claim that it can be fixed by updating the BIOS. BS. I tried. You get a $125 settlement rebate IF you brought it in for repairs between such and such dates. Otherwise I think you just get a smaller rebate.

It is a crappy restitution if you ask me. This laptop cost me a good $1500, and it's practically useless now.

Yes get the most recent drivers, here
and try again
also reinstall direct x and upgrade to SP3 if you have XP
on board.. i'm assuming you do?
also another thing, it could be that model is just too old to play
flash clips on there, you need at least a 650 MHZ for any smoothness

512k should be more than enough
but the speed might not be, altho you can make things faster by tweeking stuff (on startup disabling stuff via msconfig.sys)
    and a few other tricks

hi oh that's one of the funs of windows
the system itself doesnt' read nearly all the ram
like in DOS..but when you list it it should be 512k
that 16 megs is in your shared video..
i think you can adjust in in CMOS
(f1 or f2 i believe or maybe escape on bootup?
    but part of that

Video and Audio is skipping and is choppy

Check you have not got a lot of programs auto-starting and running in the background.
Press control/Alt and delete keys together and pick task manager.
Then have a look at the services running sorted by % CPU time, then you should find your culprit.

Choppy sound

If all media players are closed, Open the Control Panel> Sounds> open, click on configure, test. Any Problem? Now when you say "choppy sound" The audio is on what, using what? With limited info it's difficult to give a informed solution. FOR INSTANCE, I was watching a movie/music, online video, youtube....etc. with (your software) and the sound was choppy. Or, I was on IE and watching a Video, music, etc. Lets say you open Itunes and play a song, sound is choppy?

Choppy Video? What do you mean choppy video? Is the video starting and stopping rather than playing continuous? If so, either you need more memory or the site you are watching the video from is slow. Also sometimes you line speed on the computer might be slow if you are watching the video online.

How does the video play if you played a DvD in your computer? If it plays the DvD without stalling, then your problem is more than like the site you are watching or the line speed as you stream the video.

How do you replace the keyboard in a Toshiba Satellite A205-S5804 laptop?

Please watch the following YouTube video to get an idea of how this could be done:

Other similar videos for different laptop models could be found in that page as well. I would recommend that you watch as much of them as possible so as to get a grasp on how this could be done for the different models, & identify which method suits your laptop model.

I recently updated to windows my video on youtube as well as my own dvd's is choppy. The melody played on start-up is choppy as well as any other sound played on it.

Sound like a performance problem. Did you try updating your video and sound drivers?
You should also see if the Adobe Flash Player is properly installed as that is used for Youtube playback.

I just upgraded my PC 300PL IBM computer's RAM from 128 MB, to 256 MB on each slot (3 slotes), When i watch videos from my pc, or videos from online sites, The playback is slow and choppy. I was wondering...

The problem is that the video-player on your computer is "starving" for audio/video, because your download-speed is not fast-enough to "feed" the stream.

So, when a video starts to play, click PAUSE, and wait for the download to proceed for a while; then, click PLAY, to view the already-downloaded stream.

E-System laptop with slow dvd playback

This can be a bit of a tricky one to figure out. My initial response would be that you have another program or process that is causing your computer to play 'choppy' video. When you have a newer computer that was recently working just fine and now all of the sudden the video is choppy, it is usually due to another process using CPU cycles that are so important to video playback.

Start playing a DVD, but don't go to full-screen mode. Open the Task Manager. Right-Click on the task bar and select Task Manager. Click on the 'Processes' tab. There is a column labeled CPU, click on the heading 'CPU' twice. This will order the processes in order from highest CPU usage to lowest. The top two processes will most likely be your DVD player and the process that is causing your choppy playback. If the offending process isn't essential (i.e. anti-virus), then click on said process and then click the "End Process" button.

Hope this helps.
