In IBM system X3550 M3 server pxe e61 media test failure check cable error is coming and when i mam trying to install OS Partition will not show. pls give me solution.

This sounds like you are asking two different questions. PXE booting would be the way you would begin installing or loading an operating system. "Media test failure" errors would indicate a lack of network connectivity on the network interface that you're trying to PXE boot from.

You go on to mention an OS partition not showing... So did you resolve the PXE media test failure issue?

Your question is unclear and unanswerable in it's current state. BE CLEAR, CONCISE AND SPECIFIC.

I have blue background and no desktop

Hello,

I will assume you are trying to connect to another desktop from the server... You may need to setup share properties on the desktop to access it from the network. If you are using VM software on the server and having this issue, you need to reconfigure the VM setting for your user access level.

Good Luck

I WANT TO INSTALL 2003 SERVER ON IBM X236 BUT IT IS SHOWING NO DRIVE PRESENT

Use the IBM configuration disk and it should be able to prepare the server for what ever OS you need to install. If you don't have it then, try redoing RAID and reformat the hard drives and try again..You can probably hit F6 during the initial portion of the install and supply the necessary SATA drivers on a floppy and get it to install. You will probably need a USB floppy though unless your server has a floppy drive.

Insert your Microsoft Server 2003 Installation disc into the CD/DVD-ROM drive and boot the server from the installation disc. Microsoft Setup will load the files it needs to perform an installation. Press "Enter" to setup and install Windows.

  • 2 Press "F8" to accept the Microsoft License Agreement.
  • 3 Create a new partition to install the operating system onto by selecting the "Unpartitioned Space" and pressing "C." If there is no unpartitioned space, highlight and delete all of the other partitions on the hard drive by pressing "D." Set the partition size to the "Maximum Size" and press "Enter."
  • 4 Format your new partition with the "NTFS" or the "NTFS (Quick)" option. Windows setup will format your hard drive and load the installation files. Your IBM Netfinity will restart and installation will continue.
  • 5 Select language and regional setup information, then press "Next." Enter your name and company name, then press "Next." Enter your Windows 2003 Server Product Key and press "Next."
  • 6 Select the licensing mode you would prefer to use and press "Next." Create an administrative account and password and press "Next." Enter the current time and time zone and press "Next."
  • 7 Setup your Network information by naming the server and defining how it will connect through the net. Press "Next" to navigate through the network setup screens. Windows Setup will finish the installation process and provide you with a log-in screen to use your computer.
  • If you delete old partitions from the hard drive to install Windows Server 2003, you will lose all information on those partitions.

NMI ISSUED PRESS ESC TO TURN OFF NMI IN IBM SERVER

    dear mugkifa ,

NMI ISSUED PRESS ESC TO TURN OFF NMI IN IBM SERVER

the above error indicates , a non maskable interrupt occurred in your server , there may be a change of malfunction of a hardware ,like add on cards

one more solution in ibm server is disablig the NMI interrupt by using jumper settings (inside motherboard)

see the below mentioned details , may differ with your server series please refer with series on http://www-947.ibm.com/support/entry/portal/docdisplay?brandind=5000008&lndocid=MIGR-5069937

    System-board jumpers
The following illustration shows the switches and jumpers on the system board:
migr-5069937_2.gif Note: Any jumper blocks on the system board that are not shown in the illustration are reserved. The following table describes the function of each jumper block:
Jumper Settings CMOS jumper (JP3) Pins 1 and 2: Keep CMOS data (default)
Pins 2 and 3: Clear the CMOS data, which clears the power-on password and administrator password Boot block jumper (JP4) Pins 1 and 2: Normal (default)
Pins 2 and 3: Recover boot block NMI (non-maskable interrupt) switch (SW1) Normal (default): No NMI issued
The NMI button that is on the rear of server, connected to this switch, has been pressed: NMI issued

    Network Problem (occasionally loss)

Are all clients losing connections or just one? Can anyone ping the server when your client is getting 75% loss? If you are using a hub, what traffic is running during packet loss? You might need a packet trace to see what is going on. You also need to check your server stats when it is happening and when it is not and see what the difference is. Check the hub stats for errors on the ports. Is the server on the same hub with your client? These should help you find the problem if you get this info.

    IBM Server Information

It depends on what you do with the server, a server may be just another computer or a great help.
You can use your server as a Web Cache server, this means that the server will storage all the webapges your users access, so, when somebody wants to open a webpage the server will download only the updated parts of the webpage, that will save time and the users will think everything is faster.
Yet a server won't give you a faster internet conenction per se, it just optimized your resources, a server can also be a firewall or an antispam, so your network won't have undesired traffic coming from internet, so less trafic, faster network ^_^ .

Yet again, if you only buy a server, then plug it into your network and turn it on does not make anything. You will need to install/configure diferent solutions (sometimes you will need to buy them).
I recommend you to go with Linux, it is free, open source and there is plenty of documentation out there.
