I'm trying to find the check valve on a chicago pneumatic air compressor model QRS5.0. Can anyone help me with the location.

the check valve is normally on the end of the air line from the compressor into the tank
most are screwed into the tank with the compressor line attached to it.

I have a qrs 10 air compresser gettting water in air lines and it has a air dryer

When the compressor at work allow the water to get in the lines the solution is to replace the filters in the dryer as they are blocked and the air bypasses them to get to the system. Check to see if that is the same problem

What grade oil do I use to change out on my Chicago Pneumatic RPC-561VNS? The manual says a compressor grade non-deturgent oil should be used, but does no specify a grade.

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.

Compressor grade oils are basically SAE30 W oil. Read this:

Rol-Air OILCOMP30W34C Air Compressor Pump Oil - 30W Quart features ,
Specially engineered and tested to match the requirements of Rol-Air air
compressors , Provides superior rust and corrosion protection.

I.e SAE 30W oil / the same thing you would use in an older lawn mower engine or generator.

What they don't tell you is because they have re-labeled the 30W oil to OILCOMP30W they can charge you big time for SAE 30W oil. The only difference is the label.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Compressor will run but not produce air

Check your safety valve is closed by pulling it out and releasing it. You can use a mixture of dishwashing soap and water to drip on the valve to see if it makes bubbles identifying a leak. Next make sure the petcock valve on the bottom of the tank is closed and not leaking by using the soapy water again. If you cannot close or fix the valve replace it. The next trouble shooting will require checking the air input to the tank but be careful since the tubes could be hot.

What tpye of oil goes in the compressor

According to the Owner's Manual, 30 weight compressor oil is recommended. I'd use AMSOIL PCK, even though it's 40 weight. The pump will run cooler, last longer, use less gasoline, and require fewer oil changes. I'd also recommend AMSOIL's AFF 0W-40 Synthetic 4-Stroke Power Sports Oil for the motor for the same reasons.

Chicago forge horizontal air compressor will not build

Here are some simple tests that will help solve your problem. Check for leaks with soapy water on all the joints and the drain valve. With compressor running and it has reached all the pressure it can muster, remove the air filter and place your finger over the intake port, you should feel good suction and the compressor should speed-up if pump is working and pressure is leaking out. If you feel good suction then pressure could be leaking past cylinder/ring if it is oilless. Check upper part of cylinder for scratches or torn vinyl ring. If you do not feel suction, but rather air blowing out of intake then you may have bad reed vales or torn gasket in head. Another simple test is to run compressor for a few minutes and disconnect power then listen for air leaks at the pressure switch unloader valve. If leaking replace the in-tank check valve (brass valve). Follow the discharge airline to the tank, there you will find the checkvalve. Good Luck and email if you have questions.

My verticle vt631402aj compressor motor boggs down before pressure can reach 15 lbs.

hi your problem sounds tp be associated with your nonreturn valve this is not sealing ,allowing pressure to flow back to your pump from your reciever/tank ,this is a"service part"and do require replacement periodically
hope this is of help ian
