Battery died while lense extended and now will not power up.

My battery for cybershot dsc-s780 died while the lense was still extended and now the battery is fully charged and when i press the power button the green led lights up and cybershot appears on the screen but then powers down straight away

This has not helped. The battery is fully charged, When I load it into the charger the charge led goes off straight away.

I tried pushing the battery in as i power up the camera and it still just switches on for a moment and then straight off again. I tried the paper thing as well and no difference. As for the battery qaulity, I'm using the lithion ion battery that comes with the camera. This model camera does not use alkaline batteries..

    Any other suggestions?

Some of these cameras that have a lens that extends use gears to extend the lens. The gears can strip or get clogged with fine debris and jam the lens. Usung good quality rechargable batteries NOT ALKALINE will usualy have the power to drive the lens.

Ask yourself, how many cycles do you have on the pack? could the pack be weak and not power the camera fully?

Have you tried pushing firmly in on the battery while you power it up? If the camera will not power on with the door open, try and fold a small trip of paper and sit it between the battery and the door. This might push in on the battery enough to better the connection and solve the issue.

If the battery is fine then you may have a lens problem. The lenses can be jammed easy, dropped or an impact when extended is all it takes.

I have a cybershot DSC W55. When the power button is switched on the lens extends and the "access" message shown on screen. Also amber light is flashing above screen. After a few seconds I get a message to power on and off again. I\'ve tried switching on and off a few times, removing battery pack and memory card, but nothing seems to be solving the problem.

Sony cybershot DSC-W50 lens problen

thats normal.
it just doesn't have enough power to bring the lense back in.
once you charge your battery and turn it on the lense will automatically come back in and then out for you to take a picture.

My camer won't turn on

Does the lense extend when you power it on in "snapshot"mode?
Could be the switch is sticking. These cameras use concave cup button that mash on gold foil on the circuit board. Could be a bad switch. $$$$$ costly.
