Question about Dell Inspiron 1501 Notebook

My keyboard is slow. Everything else, programs, etc, works just fine. Is there a driver I can install to fix it?

Slow meaning that when I type it stays at least 5 to 15 characters behind the keystrokes. All buttons respond, just "late". It is the same everywhere, for all programs. I did try hooking a USB keyboard up but it wouldn't work at all. That is when I closed it down and went to sleep. I will try again later tonight.

I do a lot of writing so you can imagine having to wait between partially written thoughts is enough to make it almost impossible.

I have exactly the same problem, but I found the cause of it. My battery is dead(reached the end of it's usable life) and I don't know why it's causing this keyboard problem. Removing the battery solves the problem.

What do u mean by keyboard is slow?? Is it typing slow or the buttons dont respond.
Did u try different applications like notepad, word, emails, is it same everywhere??
If possible try using a usb keyboard and check its performance.

I would try to first check to see if you have any other programs running in the background. I have the same laptop and the same issue, and when I check the task manager sure enough AVG is doing a deep scan. Try disabling your antivirus.

The software Mr. Maitia referred to is called Setpoint, and it's the key to getting full use out of your 510, or any other Logitech mouse/keyboard/etc. product. All versions of the Setpoint software and drivers for Logitech products are available for free download at the Logitech support website. Here's the link: Logitech Support

Gateway keyboard shortcut keys not working

You have two options to fix them res problem:

1. Do a system restore by clicking on start > programs > system tools > system restore. Select the date when everything was working fine and finish the restoration process. Let it restart and check if everything's working fine.

2. Update the driver of your computer. The possible problem of your computer are the outdated drivers. Doing updates manually is such a headache specially if you are not that computer savvy. If you want to do it automatically, then you can install RadarSync in your computer.

I hope this helps!

Probably caused by Norton. Please get CClean, a free download, and clean your compluter. http://www.ccleaner.com/

Then defrag your drive.

These things will help a little.

Check what is running int he background and remove what ever you dont regularly use.

The most common problem when faced with a non-working keyboard is an improper connection. Try reconnecting your keyboard, restart your computer and see if that fixes it.
2. Turn off the system. Unplug the keyboard connect and inspect for any bent or broken pins. If the pins are bent, then it is possible to gently straighten them using the tip of a ball point pen or mechanical pencil. If the pins are broken, then replacement of the keyboard may be necessary.
3. Try updating the device driver. Visit the manufactures web site for the latest driver available for your keyboard make and model.
4. While at the manufactures web site. See if there are software patches or updates available for your keyboard. If there are, go ahead and install them as well as the updated driver.
5. If you are using a multi-media type keyboard, be sure to delete the software before installing any new drivers for this type of keyboard. Install the updated driver for the manufactures web site, then re-install the keyboard software. If any software updates or patches are available for your multi-media keyboard, install them at this time. Delete the keyboard software by using Add/Remove Programs (Start>> Control Panel>> Add/Remove Programs). If you receive a prompt asking if you would like to remove all shared files, answer "No to all". Then click OK.
