5 screws on bottom plate. Then couple to hold fan housing and motor. Not a bad job just takes a little juggling finesse.

How do I access a wiring diagram for handle switch assembly on an Oreck XL upright vacuum?

Go to www.hescoinc.com. Click on schematics under information on the left side of the page, then click on Oreck and find your model. Hopefully that has enough detail for you. You can order parts from them too at prices lower than most other distributors.

My Oreck vacuum cleane won't turn on

I have an Oreck vacuum. My son used it just earlier today and it worked just fine, then just a little while ago a tried to turn it on to vacuum our bedroom and suddenly it won't turn on! I tried plugging it into other outlets but it was no use. My husband takes a look at it and first thinks that the switch is out in it. He takes the handle apart and quickly realizes that it is not the switch that is causing the problem. Then he took the base of the vacuum apart, removes the spin brush part and cleans it off, puts it back together, and suddenly it works! He said that when those brushes get real dirty the motor gets clogged, then it just won't turn on. I'm just happy I married someone who can figure these things out, because even if I knew the problem I'm still no good with a screwdriver, taking things apart and putting them back together again. Hope this works for your Oreck too and it's running again for you soon.

Wiring schematic oreck xl2600hh

I have a Oreck XL and the propeller that is in the housing will become hard for the moter to turn. I have took it apart and do not see a problem, but when I reinstall the parts it will run for about 15 sec. and the moter will stop turning. When the propeller housing is off the motor turns ok and doesn't stop. Do I need a new propeller/housing?

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG THEIR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. The motor has 5 wires to the motor as stated in the Oreck owners manual, tow are for the headlights, one is a ground wire, and the other two are for the motor. There are two screws that hold in the Oreck motor and a good suggestion is to use tape the wires leads and mark the wires so that you will not make a mistake as you take it apart and reassemble the motor. That way you will not make any mistakes, whether or not you have wires for a headlight or not, the rules are the same. Also refer to the owner’s manual schematic and the exploded view. Sounds like the motor, fan chamber and the end cover for the fan chamber is not all of the way in place. They have to be on right on top of the scew posts.

Sounds like the Oreck is clogged. You'll have to undo the bag by the way of the clip in the middle at the back of the main black spindel neck and then at the bottom. Then take apart the main neck by pushing the rubber mounts upwards to release the pip fitting locks and holes. You should find that either the top of the neck or the bottom - where the dust channel feeder is located - is clogged. Either that or there may be a clog in the main dust channel after the roller brush or wedged into the fan unit itself - the Oreck XL is a dirty fan system which means clogged dirt can often get stuck between the dirt and the dirt channel.
