It's entirely possible the problem is one of the following:
Recently replaced cartridges have 1. incompatible chips for your printer (ie: they're the wrong type) 2. chips that don't talk or work with the type on your older/original cartridges.
The issue with 2. usually comes about when consumables are from different suppliers or the supplier has switched to a new version that doesn't work in the same way as the earlier brand.
Fix in either instance is to either: - replace the older cartridges with new types across the board - try reinserting the old cartridge(s) to make sure the problem isn't more serious (ie: logic board or contact wire failure).
Note: contact wires are the little delicate wires that make contact with the chips. They are easily broken off if there's rogue plastic flashing or similar on cartridges or small children try to "fix" things.
If it hasn't been scanned fo codes, the most common problem relates to gas caps. Evaporative emissions systems. When a cap gets old it will not function correctly. Consequently the check engine light will come on. Do not buy an after market cap. My experience with aftermarket caps have been very poor. The majority of times I tried after market caps on customer cars, I got return problems. Factoy caps seem to resolve that issue. Once you replace the cap, the light should go out in a few cycles. It's a cheap investment if it's the original cap anyway, it'll save you the cost of scanning and the gamble is almost 70% right.
Unplug the power cord from the power supply for a good 15 seconds or so then press and hold the power button for another few seconds (5 or so). Plug back in the power and see if it boots up.
Good luck!
