Question about Nikon Coolpix 5700 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Photos turn out pink and washed out.

I have had my camera for many years when all of a sudden (from one shoot to the next) all shots turn out pink and washed out - the more outside light the more washed out - in bright light it is completely washed out and unusable. Also on turning on & off the camera there's a definate rattle in the workings.
Could this have something to do with a sensor and is it fixable?
Many thanks I miss my camera : (

Thanks for your reply, I tried what you asked. Inside at night it's ok but during the day I just get a white screen.

Thinks I'll have to take it in.

    Many Thanks

Nikon had something on their website about a recall of a certain part. When I had a similar problem last year, I sent in the camera to the address on the website and got free repairs. But now it is doing it again, so I don't know if I can have it replaced twice.

Please check if the camera is on Manual exposure mode. If so, turn it to Auto and try again. Also check the White Balance setting of the camera. If the White Balance is manually set, reset it to Auto and check.
I am not sure which camera model you are using, but if the model has a Dust Reduction function, the rattling sound could be because of that. If so, this is quite normal.

If your camera is not dead, It is surely dying. Perhaps just a flat cable lost connection inside your camera, But more likely the electronics is on the end of life. My DX7590, started to act strange a few year ago, but I managed to shoot pictures still. I could not look back what I had shot, but I still made lots of pictures, till also shooting was impossible. (I could get the pictures from the memory card with an external card reader on my computer. My next step was again (a better) compact, but since over 2 years now I'm using a DSLR. I have learned a lot about digital photography with my Kanon camera's.

My Mamiya C330 Pro only gives me 4 photos per roll

A few things to consider:
-Loading: Make sure you are not over loading the film before you start to shoot. I have sometimes turned the film advance too many times and end up cutting down on the amount of usable film.
-Are you loading the film in a dark area and careful to close up the back just after it has started to load to avoid exposing it?
-Shooting: Are you metering properly when shooting? Obviously underexposed images won't develop. You should consider a hand held meter.
-Shooting: Are you advancing the film more than it needs to be after you take your shot? Watch the film counter and feel for that click as it hits the next frame. I have advanced past the next shot many times by accident.
Hope that helps, Matt

My A80 makes pictures with very thin horizontal line across the top of the picture. in the same series of shots, clouds and snow came out pink-tinted.

Are you looking at the photos on the camera screen or a computer screen? Camera screens can sometimes be the culprit, depending on lighting. Also, make sure you are not shooting into the sun, that can do weird things to an image sensor.

My gs500s colors are bright pink and i tried changing white balance and nothing works

Try going into "reset" master mode. otherwise you need to make sure your camera is shooting on the right setting for the light you are using. For example, when shooting in daylight with interior light setting (approx. 3200k) your photos will look off color and yellow or pink because sunlight is 5600k approx.,. . . contrary while shooting indoors with incandescant lighting if the camera is set for sunlight exposure (5600k) the picture will look blue. Make sure you read the manual on how to white balace, but first take the camera out of AutoExposure settings to do all the settings manually. Auto focus and auto exposure are for rookies and these types of errors will happen. Always try to do manual iris and manual focus for best results zoom in and get your focus on the subjects eyes then zoom out and frame up your shot.

Help!! 10-year old Accura Zoom 80 film camera is taking blurry photos all of a sudden

you should be able to place your hand in front of the auto focus window while looking in front of camera (be careful not to blind yourself with the flash) you should notice the lens moving sightly as if to focus. The best way though is to actually shoot a roll through it. Do not shoot a wedding or anything of real importance...the cost of a roll of film and develop is worth piece of mind.
