You may need to defrag the computer and your memory stick.

SOURCE: sir I bought Dell Optiplex

You can upgrade a PC but in my experience it is far better and is more cost effective to purchase a faster PC. Here is what you do, save all your personal important information from it's hard drive onto a USB flash drive. Now sell this computer and then using the money that you would have used to upgrade it buy a new computer.

You don't want to go lower than a single core 2.4GHz with 512mb RAM. However I do reccomend an AMD computer system. See if you can afford an Athlon 2 X2 250/255 they are very good and don't cost very much. Of course you will need to purchase new components, either from a local computer shop or on the net.

If you want to try to increase the speed of your current PC then you will need to upgrade the RAM to at least 512mb, make sure it is DDR400. The next thing to upgrade is the CPU, I think it is socket 478 so it might fit a 2.4GHz socket 478 CPU must check CPU and mainboard is the same socket or it will not work.

SOURCE: 1. Can Dell Dimension 9100 work with 2x2gb ram?

Here is a link for upgrading to Win 7: http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/desktop/f/3514/t/19356108.aspx
If you can't boot form the CD/DVD you have a problem with your CD/DVD drive. If you can enter the BOIS (setup menu) then your computer is working, just waiting for a device to boot from.

Very slow operation of Canoscan Lide90

Canon scanners are slow to begin with. A good usb cord plugged directly into a port, not a hub can help. Discontinue as many background programs and operations as possible. The shorter the cord, the better. You can't speed up the scanner, only the data transfer between the scanner and your PC. They are good scanners, just slow. Some printers are like that as well.

Hi,
Make sure that your PC supports USB 2.0, which is high speed data interface. Look for any such option in BIOS settings of PC and if available, enable it. On systems which do not support USB 2.0 interface, the data transfer is very low. You may search google for your PC Specifications and USB Support available.

Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya!

Cannot transfer photos from phone via the usb cable

There are issue with usb port, virus and perfomance.

1. Try using other port. If you using front panel(pc) port, then use back panel usb port.
2. If problem, try change your cable connection(cable problem)
3.Try wait around one minute to get your pc/laptop properly connectd to your camera.

Slow transfer

It could be that the USB port you are using to transfer the data is not a "High Speed 2.0" enabled port.
Does it give you a pop-up message when you plug it in, one that says "This device can perform faster".
If so, It is not a High Speed USB port. Try using another USB port on your PC.

Why has it got two usb cords and which goes where?

Hi scamp,
The specs on that HHD says that it has both USB and USB2, which are different in that USB2 transfers data much quicker than USB. If they are not clearly marked USB and USB2, try one connection and transfer a large file, switch ports and transfer the same file again to see which one is quicker.
Hope this helps...

You connected it to a "USB 1.1" socket in your computer, which is only 1/40 of the speed of a "USB 2.0" socket (if your computer has any such USB sockets). If you don't have any USB 2.0 ports, buy a PCI add-in card to add some ports to your computer.

Question about transferring files from computer hard drive.

Is your other drive an external or an internal drive??? If external then attach it to the USB port and see it as an additional drive in My Computer. Then you can use it as any other drive.
If an internal drive then you will have to purchase an adapter that can take this drive and get connected to the PC/laptop to through the USB port. Again visible on My Computer as additional drive and can be used such.

Hi Good Morning, When i transfer the data

How big are your movie files in MB, and are you using your USB 2.0 to upload or USB 1? Keep in mind USB 2.0 is a little over twice the speed of data transfer, and how long is long? 4 minutes, 2 hrs...? Based on your specs, it shouldn't be more than a few minutes. Check your Task Manager for CPU or Memory hungry processes while transferring.

I have a PNY 4GB high speed USB Drive. I want to

Well, the easy way would be to do this

But if you want to use the USB drive just insert it into an open USB port
  1. click Start
  2. click My Computer
  3. Select the USB drive from the list of connected drives
  4. Click and drag the files from their location to the USB drive
To get them to the other computer follow steps 1-3, then click and drag them from the USB drive to their new location.
