This problem occurs when check band is not in place. Remove the head and pull out the cylinder. There should be a rubber band around a series of holes on the cylinder. Replace if broken or just put back in place. Good luck

Porter cable roofing nailer piston won't retract

Could be the check-band around the cylinder. Easy to check. Remove the head and pull out the cylinder. There should be a rubber band covering a series of pin-holes drilled into the cylinder. Usually the band will fall out of place or break. Use any rubber that will stay in place to cover the holes. Good luck.

Roof coil nails any diffrence

Internally they are the same, however the rnd has a semi clear cover to see the coil nails in the cannister (could be other differences but use same nail). There is a difference between brands of nails. Check with local code for required length and type (galvanized , stainless etc). Make sure that the wire that binds the nails together is not too strong and stiff. Some coils have soft copper that works quite nicely and others use a stiff steel wire that tends to pull at the coil and leaves a stiff piece of wire in front of the first nail preventing good alignment to driver. If you are going to depend on your nailer for daily work, order and have in stock upper bumper and cylinder seal. These parts will fail quite quickly. Other parts tend to hold up pretty well. Good luck

Why does my roofing nail gun jamming, it would fire one nail and the hammer will remain out, so i toke a screw driver and push the hammer back in, and it still did the same thing

Simple test for piston jam. With nails removed and latch open, point nose of gun up then down. If the driver slides up and down in the cylinder as you move the gun, replace the piston oring (test gun for proper operation). If the piston stays in the upper most position as you move gun (push driver to top position), check lower bumper and bottom seal under the bumper (sheet). Replace as needed. If the lower parts are in good condition (good piston oring, lower bumper and sheet) , replace the 3 orings on the feeder piston. Good luck

The fireing piston comes out really slow and I have to feed it back in by hand. There seems to be very little power

you need to thoroughly clean and replace all the o rings also check toe condition of the bumper for wear and debri in the small hole that feeds the advance piston mechanism

My new (used once) hitachi roofing nailer wont feed.when I hand feed it,it has no power.Like theres no air pressure.....Yes the compressor is on. any ideas?

Remove nails and disconnect airline. Open door latch and check for back and forth movement of the feed piston. It should move with little force and should have spring tension when you push on the leading edge of the feeder. If very hard to move then most likely orings are swollen or stuck from lack of lubrication or water entering gun. Remove head being carefull not to tear gasket and check piston/ oring for tight fit( the piston will not come all the way out, just enough to repalce oring). If very tight then all orings should be replaced. If just dry, lube with silicone paste or proper oil. Check that the cylinder retracts into body of gun and rather easily pulls back up. Do not use pliers on the the cylinder; it is spring loaded and shuld move with finger pressure. Parts are available at Good holidays

MY RIDGID ROOFING GUN will not feed the nails and then jams up because it trys to shoot two nails how can i fix it?

I would look at the deeder area which is close to the plunger. If not properly oiled, it will jam up like this. See the link below and enter the model number (R175RND) to get the complete parts breakdown diagram. That should help you to open up the unit and check it out. Also examine any O-rings for signs of wear.

Max roofing nailer

Max nailers are very good quality and parts are not expensive. Parts and parts list at Check the following to repair not feeding problem.
Check paw in the door should have a light spring action. Feed paw should have a medium spring action. You may have to pull the feed piston back and hold to check feed paw spring action. Feed piston should have heavy spring action. If springs seem ok then remove feed piston and replace two orings. If the feed piston spring is broken replace with correct part. Make sure that the ports that direct air to feed piston are not blocked with bits of rubber or dirt. Sometimes parts of the bumper will break off and spread thru-out the gun. Good Luck and enjoy. (parts not expensive)
