I have a telstra 1220 cordless phone and i can not receive inbound calls or make outbound calls .. i do get a dial tone
When an inbound call is made the phone will ring as normal however as soon as I pick the hand set the call is terminated yes I am able to make outbound calls with out any problems

After you enter *67, you hear the dial tone. Dial the outbound number. Your caller ID is not presented on the receiving end.
After you enter *82, you hear the dial tone. Dial the outbound number. Your caller ID is presented on the receiving end.
Place the telstra 8100 handset in the charger. Call any number while the handset is in the charger and it should dial out - you can hear the dial tone now. Take the handset out of the charger and you should be able to call normally.
