Question about Crane Cow Humidifier

1 Answer

Cow humidifier sparked and smoked.

We turned on the humidifier tonight and it sparked and started smoking. We are lucky it happened then and not in the middle of the night or we might have had a fire and lost our two boys. What should we do now?

Contact the manufacturer, and the retailer let them know about it and try for a refund.

Does the vaporizer help fight against smoke and second hand smoke??

No, it only humidifies (puts moisture) in the room air. As a matter of fact. that much humidity, the cigarette smoke may stain the walls and ceiling.

You definitely have a problem. One that could be costly, if you continue to use it. Whether it is still under warranty of not, you need to contact their Technical Service Dept, as they will be able to help you diagnose and repair the problem if possible.

How can you tell if it is working or not, it used to have a visible mist coming out, now it doesn't, you can feel air coming out and hear the fan working, but is it working?

Check the fan area on the base. My spongebob humidifier did the same thing, and then I noticed smoke and sparks coming from the fan area. i am trying to contact Crane for a replacement, but its 2 years old, and warranty is over.

I WAS GIVEN THE COW HUMIDIFIER AS A GIFT WHICH WAS A HAND ME DOWN AND I DONT KNOW HOW TO WORK IT.. PLEASE HELP

Hi, Looks like this should be easy to operate. These are the only directions I found for this humidifier: This Crane humidifier operates with cold tap water. Just fill the 1 gallon tank in the sink (fits most common sized sinks) and switch the unit on. The Cow Humidifier will produce cold mist instantanously. The mist output can be regulated with the control button located at the front.
Hope this helps! Hal

What does the yellow light mean?

when the light changes to yellow it is just adjusting to the newly added water. If you let it run the light should turn back to green. I think the light is only indicative of water level. I've had this humidifier for over a year and only gotten a yellow light once. It turned green after some of the water in the basin drained. Hope this helps

Wiring problem

Sounds like you may have put 120v through a 24v solenoid and humidistat.
Is the HUM terminal on the furnace 120v or 24v?
If it is a 120v terminal you will need a 120x24v transformer and a new solenoid and maybe a new humidistat.
