Question about HP 17 1740 DVI Rotating LCD Monitor w/USB Hub Silver/Black -
I just got a HP 1740 Monitor used from goodwill. It was working just fine when i got it a week ago. Now when i boot up just fine like normal and show starting windows. Then about 2 seconds after it starts windows it goes black and says no DVI Input and i have tried changing the sittings but i wont stay on long enough for me to do anything.
If the screen is black or blank, but an error message such as No Signal displays on the screen, the problem might be related to the video signal. To troubleshoot, use the Flat Panel Monitor Displays Message About No Signal, Signal out of Range, Sleep, or Power Save. If you can try the monitor on a different PC to make sure its not the monitor if the monitor is working on the other PC then its your PC you can try booting in safe mode and check your settings if its not settings then try cleaning or replacing the video card

Sounds like you have something overheating in the screen pull the back cover and blow it out.

SOURCE: i have HP Pro3000MT, and
you need a dvi to vga adapter not a dvi to vga plug and you must also go into your graphics card setup catalyst control center if its ATI Nvidia Display manager for Nvidia if you boot the computer with it pluged in and you can see the boot screen on bolth displays then its an os thing just right click and select the display manager the activate all display's through the managers

Check if you VGA is properly settled in the PCI slot. Try to take it out, clean the slot for dust.
If that doesn't help, it is well possible that you VGA is not working any more.

There is no signal coming from your PC.
excuse some of the solutions as sounding dumb, but we have to explore all possibilities.
Check the power cable going into the computer
Check the power input disconnect switch on the back of the power supply and make sure it is on
If the pc is plugged into a power bar, make sure it is turned on and the breaker isn't tripped
press power on the PC and make sure the lights are coming on.
now for the solutions that may actually help.
disconnect the power from the PC
if the video is on a card, remove and re-seat the video card
hook the power back up, connect the monitor and try again.
the CMOS on the computer may need to be reset.
I hate totally clearing the CMOS, so what I usually do is remove 1 stick of ram and power up. If the system is alive again, power down, put the RAM back in and power back up.
If that doesn't work, turn the system off, put the CMOS jumper to the CLEAR position for 15 seconds, put it back to the Normal position and then power back up.
Basically, if the monitor works on your friends system but not on yours, the the problem is your system, not the monitor (assuming it isn't working fine til it gets into windows...if that's the problem, you have a driver or configuration problem)
