Question about Symantec AntiVirus Scan Engine
I picked up a malware problem (Spyware Protect 2009) somehow, and tried to run a full scan using the installed Symantec Antivirus (10.0.1.1000 version). When I start the scan it immediately completes with no files checked. I have verified the configurations and compared it to my other laptop which had the same sw installed - my old one ran normally. I have not done a manual scan since my company gave me this new computer so I'm not certain that it worked before the malware. I have removed the malware but the problem still exists.
Nortons only protects you now, It will not fix a previous problem without sending them more money, try running Ad-Aware from Lavasoft it is free, and also download and run CCleaner they both are free and clean-up registry problems and adware plus much more.
