Sunterra 2000 gph pump quit working, after cycling on and off

I have been using my Sunterra pump, along with a tank heater to keep my medium sized pond from freezing (I'm trying to keep my fish alive).  After an unusually cold spell the pump stared cycling on and off - eventually it stopped. I was able to remove the pump from the water and I can freely turn the impeller but it won't even "hum" when I plug it in.

New polygroup 2000 gph pump is loud

firstly, don't be so certain that doubling your pumping capacity isn't damaging other parts of your pool system. Excessive flow reduces filter efficiency, can cause hyper chlorination, and cause faster degradation of the plumbing and pool surfaces.

a noisy pump typically indicates poor lubrication on bearings and bushings in the pump assembly, or misalignment of those parts. Things like this happen.

Either replace the pump (and i recommend going back to the original design specs) or rebuild it, using new bushings / bearings, high quality lubrication, and be certain that the drive shaft is perfectly straight, and that the bushings allow it to spin freely.

Is there a pump model that you can specify that has veriable flow rate? If not is there something I could do to vary the flow rate? At this time I'm not Quite sure what G.P.H. will be required. ...

There is a fairly easy way to vary the flow on nearly any pump. You can use a valve after the pump to restrict the flow up to 20% or so without putting to much strain on the pump. As to a specific pump I would need to know the G.P.H. range you are looking for and I would be happy to help find you the right pump for your needs.

I'm not real sure but I think there must be a bearing or bearing housing broken I can't find it listed in the repair parts have any idea where to find this part?

The only bearings I can locate on the unit are built into the motor and its housing. Considering accessing them would damage the water tight seal I would not recommend replacement.

What size regulator do i use with h100 propane pool heater???

Their are many varibales that go into this and your gas company should be able to help you with this. They will quite often send someone out to check for you as they get to sell you more gas if you run the heater. But you need tank size, pipe size, run of pipe, local weather to name some of the things along with all other appliences in the house. So you do need to have it sized by a pro on the job site.

Does anyone know where I can get a replacment impeller for a 2008 model Sunterra 2000 gph pump ? The cover comes off and looks replaceable. I have a warranty replacment 2009 model and the cover of it is...

If you find a replacement 2000 Impeller for your 2008 sunterra pump, let me know! I called the company who promptly told me they don't sell component parts for any of their pumps larger than 1250. They very matter-of-factly told me to go buy a new pump.

the heater bypass is quite simple, if you look at the firewall you will see two medium sized coolant lines, remove them from the firewall and link them together using a proper sized tube, you can purchase a kit at a parts store quite cheaply
