Question about Interactive Toy Concepts Crossfire Arctic Cat Rc Snowmobile

No Steering for Arctic Cat 18" RC Snowmobile

We purchased an 18' Actic Cat RC snowmobile for my son. There has never been a "reverse" on it, but that is not a problem. The steering doesn't work, and I'm hesitant to try to take the front-end apart to try to fix it. I can get the screws that hold it together out, but I can't get the "hood" off for fear of breaking something important made of plastic that will destroy it permanently. From what I can see inside, the housing that holds the plastic gears together is cracked on the front -- small but enough to make everything inside the housing loose & sloppy so the gears won't mesh. That allowed the shaft that one of the gears spins on to come out. If I can get the fron't end off I may be able to fix it. any suggestions?

I have the same sled. The steering has 3 gears conected to a drive motor. There are 6 screws that hold the hood on. Two right on the bottom of the sled. There are 2 more that hold the front bumper on. Than two more that is kinda hidden just in front of the steel bulkhead plate.
Once you get them out the hood should come off. Do not pull it all the way out, there are wires that go to the switch and the headlights. Now if you have the hood off, if you are looking athe inside of the sled there are two black box covers that are held on by 4 scerws. From the front of the sled the cover on the right is the steering cover. That it off and look at the gears. Maybe you can glue the box to hold the gears better. To my knowledge they do not sell replacement gears for the steering or any other parts. I think you can get the controller or new skis but that is about it.
I hope that helps.

Good luck

Need to find replacement for broken belt/track.

Belts for cleated tracks are no longer available from arctic cat. You will have to find a used belt on EBAY, at a salvage yard, or upgrade to a rubber track. An Arctic dealer can look up pieces needed to upgrade to rubber track from the old accessory parts listing to do the upgrade. You will need to replace your drive sprockets and possibly the drive axle to run a rubber track with out cleats.

Take the carburetor apart and clean/ inspect it. It is possible that the slow jet was not put in securely, and dropped into the bowl. just reinstall it. You could have a choke plunger that is sticking open.

I was recent given an arctic cat ''jag'' snow mobile and don't know ghow to find out what year it wass manufactured.

Look for a tag on the side of the snowmobile tunnel that says what year it was made. You will typically have to add 1 year to the year that the tag says.
