Question about Soundcraft LX7ii 24 24-Channel Mixer

1 Answer

1 channel on my soundcraft board is not working (static, noise etc.) how can I fix it without tearing apart the board?

When i am using the channel and the slider is 80% to the top there is noise that comes through the speakers over top of the signal that should be coming out. Can I use electrical contact cleaner to fix this?

Maybe try a can of compressed air on the slider. Mixers only look intimidating. I would imagine it has a separate module for each channel, so the fix may only be swapping out a $20 part. Keep me posted...

IS there a way to check if my walkie talkie antenna is borken

The antennas break, most often internally at the solder joint on the main board. There really is not test other than it works poorly. You could wiggle it when transmitting and if you hear static, popping or other noise, stop transmitting at once! Transmitting without a working antenna can damage a radio. The repair is to take it apart and resolder.

Crate csx24 sound board- the mute lights will not light. Sound works but lights will not light.

USUALLY the Mute LED's for the switches ar operated by separate contacts on the mute switch an a resistor current limit for the LED. I could NOT find the schematic for this board, HOWEVER some Soundcraft brand mixers do NOT have illuminated Mute switches... Not sure about your particular unit.

Soundcraft Gigrac 1000st distortion in the mic inputs. The rca line in is fine and clean. No effects on the mic pre sounds like its breaking up at any volume level. really dissapointing.

You should be using Dynamic mics such as a Shure SM58. They go into the first FOUR channels and if there is excessive gain and distortion, push in thee Pad button below the connector for those four channels. Inexpensive consumer microphones used with some Karaoke home systems are not suitable for this unit. You should be using XLR cables on the mics (balanced lines). The Pad buttons reduce the gain by a fixed amount of -20 Db for mics that have too much output to be controlled by the gain controls right above the connector. Ideally those should be no less than 12 o'cloock for good signala to noise ratio. Additional channels beyond the first four do not have as much gain and they do not have the -20 Db pad option.

I have two xlr combo inputs which have phantom power. Channel two works as new since I've hardly used it, but channel one which I've used quite a lot has hardly any gain when I use the condenser mic with...

This sounds bad... I suspect that a noise suppression cap on one side of the bad channel has shorted... possibly due to a static discharge.
Test for this doing this: Using a meter, with nothing plugged in and phantom on, check the voltage at both pins 2 and 3 to pin 1 of the XLR connectors. If you find either pin 2 or 3 is much lower than its mate (they both should be 15 volts to 48 volts positive), then one side noise filter cap probably has shorted. Unless you are electronically adept at repair, take it in for servicing.
