If you are running it in the cooling function, your drain maybe backed up. Find your drain outside if you can and suck it with a shop vac.

Hey Crystakwi, lets find out why with the informations you gave! this got to be a heat pump,-- up flow--you live in a cold climate--probably in the upper United States--! The Heat pump takes the heat out of the air down to 40*, then the auxillary heat kicks in , or you can just turn the thermostat to auxillary heat and it will kick in the back up heater, whethet it be gas heat --oil-- or electric heat to provide the heat from any degrees out side temperatures. Its cool , its just doing it job! Thank-you- very- much!

Heat exchanger replacement for carrier weathermaker 8000

After 18 years of service, it is not cost effective to just replace the heat exchanger. Go the complete replacement route. There may be a utility company incentive to do it.

Code 24 on carrier weathermaker 8000ts

Turn power off to unit. Open air handler and take a picture of the low voltage (tstat) wires and where they are landed. Remove all thermostat wires from control board. Then replace the 5 amp fuse that is likely on the board. Fuse likely looks like one for a car (blade style). Put a jumper (small piece of wire) from the R terminal to the G terminal and turn power back on to unit. This should bring on the indoor blower. Let me know how that goes!!

I have a Carrier model # 58MXA080-F-15112. I think my furnace is 30 plus years old. it isn't heating properly. The blower turns on and sometimes the flames come on, but sometimes they don't. As...

A 13 code means the furnace cycled on limit more than three times consecutively and is in a lockout for 3 hours. A 14 is ignition lockout. An ignitor does not intermittently quit working. I'm the service mgr at our shop, and I know that particular furnace model has a service bulletin out on bad secondary heat exchangers. If your lucky the filter is dirty, or the furnace condensate trap or drain is clogged. Most likely the secondary heat exchanger is plugged up and isn't allowing the pressure switch to make. Or the furnace is overheating due to it not being able to properly vent hot gas. Which would explain the high limit lockouts. Call an authorized carrier dealer so you can take advantage of the free heat exchangers and the $300 labor credit. You can also call an authorized Bryant dealer to perform the work for you. Only an authorized dealer can rectify this problem because the Bryant corp requires testing and paperwork in order to get your free parts and labor credit.
Good luck.

Changing filter

The filter should be located in the return air flow duct either inside the furnace or in the ductwork
you should have it inspected by a service contractor
as far as when it should be replaced depends on the condition of the heat exchanger and overall condition of the rest of the parts it could start to nickel and dime you

Carrier weathermaker sx 58 furnace

I have serviced these furnaces for 20 years and I can tell you most of these models did not have diagnostic lite on them. (although some did, especially if the control board has been replaced) The problem is most likely a bad 3 wire pilot. This will cause exactly what you describe. 2 things to consider though. 1, If you were to replace the pilot don't get a cheaper knockoff. In my experience these do not last long at all. Get the right one from a carrier dealer. It will cost more but be much more reliable. 2 What is the condition of the secondary heat exchanger? Most if not all of the sx series had issues with the secondary heat exchangers rotting out and leaking. If the furnace is out of warranty you would be much better replacing the furnace as the cost of replacing the secondary heat exchanger will probably be almost the same as a new furnace. ( those babies are EXPENSIVE!)
