Question about GE JBP90 Electric Kitchen Range
Our touchpad has stopped working. I can get a beep out of the CLEAR/OFF button, but no other button does anything. When I persist in pushing buttons, eventually I get an F1 code and a steady beep that doesn't stop until I turn off the breaker. The stovetop works normally; it's just the touchpad. Sometimes it will come back to life if I turn off the breaker and leave it off for a while before I turn it back on. That didn't work today, though. We've had it apart, and there's no sign of any damage to the circuit boards, nor did anything seem loose. When we can get the buttons to work, the oven functions normally until it's turned off. The first sign of trouble was when the timer would come on all by itself with a beep. It still does that, just not as often. If the whole touchpad has to be replaced, do you have any idea how much that costs? Is it worth fixing on a 13-year-old stove? Many thanks!
Most likley you have a bad touchpad. Most times its a key that is stuck and there is nothing much you can do except replace the touchpad control. It is a common problem with all electronic ranges. If the range is 13 years old I would thik about replaceing it. Good luck
