I am not sure what protection mode is and no it is not under warranty. Do you have the manual from nodevice.com? I think it is a power supply issue. The tv seems to turn on for less then a second then turns back off I think.

The main board is a BA7140F01013. I would still like to look at the service manual for the LC320em82s if you have it digital form. Thank you for all of your help.

  • anthony76 Jan 29, 2009

I have tested the power supply and I have voltage one side of the transformer(165 volts). I have nothing at the other side. This one has four pins on one side and 8 on the other. Is this the same thing that was wrong with yours?

I have an Emerson LC320EM82S. It powers on and immediately goes into standby mode. Does anyone know the fix for this?

That sure is protection mode. I have a Emerson TV that did the same thing. Everyone is having problems with the Fundai power inverter board. The inverters that power the LCD screen seem to fail really early in life. I had mine for 4 months and it gave out. I replaced the bad transformer inverter and it works again. You may want to try find a replacement board or replace the bad inverter transformer. If your board# is BA71FOFO1042 I can get the part# for you if you need it. As for the service manual, I don't have one for yours and most web sites charge money for donwloading. I only have one for my TV LC320EM82S. Let me know if you need more help.

The only place that I can find that right now is nodevice.com.

It's only 6 pages, so I don't it complete service manual.

Did your Emerson go into protection mode? And is it under warrany?

I only have my service manual on paper form. Sorry. The inverter transformer maybe the same part as yours. 8 pin and less that 3" big. Let me know if you need the part# for it. Good Luck

Not sure which one your testing. My problem was with the 6 small mini transformer that line up on the sides, that connected to the Lcd screen. I tested the each connector on the sides for resistance, and found one that an open circuit. Which lead me to the open circuit in the small inverter transformer. Sounds like you are testing the big main transformer. I don't think you'll see voltage on the other side when the protection mode is active. When you turn the TV on, It only gives you a few seconds test for voltage. I had to stick with resistance testing at that point.

How to reset Emerson tv. Model no. LF320EM4

Well, the standard when they don't give you a reset button or menu option to go to factory settings is to disconnect power for 10 minutes.

Otherwise, the owner's manual is here: http://www.emersonaudiovideo.com/support/download.php

or you might look under Funai televisions and see if they have a procedure.

Does my Emerson LCD TV/DVD combination model LD195EM8 7 have a internal QAM tuner?

The Emerson LD195EM8 7 does not have a QAM tuner. It just has the ATSC (digital OTA) and NTSC (analog OTA and cable) tuners. Emerson TVs are manufactured by Funai. You can find most of their manuals here: http://www.emersonaudiovideo.com/support/download.php . Enter your model number without the 7 to find the download link; the direct link is hidden in the Java script. Sears Parts Direct also has the manual. The direct link to the LD195EM8 manual is http://www.managemylife.com/mmh/pd_download/lis_pdf/OWNM/L0810491.pdf .

I wish that I had better news for you. I hope this helps.

What cable do I need connect my Emerson EWL20D6 to my laptop?

This TV can't understand a laptop signal directly (for most laptops - there are some computers that have a TV out option). The EWL20D6 has S-video, component and composite video inputs. Your best picture will be to get a VGA (RGB) to Component Video (YPbPr) converter with a 3.5 mm to RCA L/R audio cable. See this page for some idea of the available converters: http://www.ramelectronics.net/audio-video/video-converters/vga-rgb-hv-to-component-video/c10000-c11200-c11215-p1.html . The VGA to component video cable is meant for projectors that can interpret the RGB signal, not TVs.

If your laptop has an HDMI port, you will need a different type of converter.

Once you have the correct hardware, you will need to make sure that the external video port is active on your laptop. For some machines, you may need to enable this in the BIOS first (press Esc, F1, F2 or F10 (depending on the computer) on bootup to get to the BIOS - it may take a few tries to time it correctly). Then turn off the TV and computer before connecting the cables. Then turn on the TV and set it to the desired input before turning on the laptop. Then set the laptop to send the video signal to the external monitor. (On my Win7 laptop, I right-click on the Desktop and select Graphic Properties. Then set the desired display (laptop screen, external monitor, both) and click Apply. Then press OK when you see the confirmation box on the now active screen.)

The Emerson EWL20D6 was manufactured by Funai for the Emerson line. Thus the manual is available here: http://www.funai-corp.com/support/manuals.aspx . Manuals are listed in alphabetical order. (If you use the search function, leave off the brand name.) The direct link to the manual is: http://www.funai-corp.com/6pdf/om/EWL20D6.pdf .

I hope this helps.

We have lost our manual for this TV. Is it possible to print one from online or to have one mailed to us?

Emerson TVs are built by Funai. You can get the manual from the Funai site, http://www.funai-corp.com/support/manuals.aspx . Search for your TV model to find the manual as a PDF and then print the file.

The direct link to the manual for the EWL20S5 is http://www.funai-corp.com/6pdf/om/EWL20S5.pdf . For the best results when you want to print the file, save it to your computer and then open it in Adobe Reader (instead of using the plugin). You may need to change the scale at which the document is printing. Use the Print Preview feature to guide your printing choice.

I hope this helps.

Hi i have A Misakai t.v. model-MTV2002 I'VE tyred all kind's of universal remote's cannot find out no t.v code for a universal remote can u help i'm lost thx-u number's & stuff about this company...

Hi Dennis

Your TV is made by Funai Corp. of China. They make many brands of TV and many are identical inside and just have a different badge/casing.

http://www.funai.us/index.html

You didn't state which brand/model remote you have so I can't offer any specific codes, however, if you try codes for some of the other brands manufactured by Funai - see following list - you may get one that works:

Funai
Magnavox
Symphonic
Sylvania
Superscan
Element
Philco
Durabrand
Trutech
Emerson
ESA

Personally, I think Funai, Sylvania and Emerson are the most likely. Try these and if you have no luck, post back with your remote model number and I'll see what I can find.

Regards,
BElectric

My 32 inch emerson powers up and cuts off after a few seconds.

Hi, I own the same TV and had the same problem. It's the #1 plaguing issue with flat panel TVs made by Funai corp. Emerson is made by them. Normally, when this happens, the TV goes into " Protection Mode " because of a failing circuit board.

The most common thing to go out on flat panel TV is the circuit board that supply power to the screen. Commonly called a Backlight Inverter Board. But, I can't say it's 100% the problem because I can't actually look at the tv over the internet. I can only make guesses with the symptom. I'm willing to bet you have the same problem like mine. One of six Inverter Transformers when bad on my Power/Backlight Inverter Supply Board. I replaced it and it works fine again. d66cb18.jpg

You have a few choices:

1. You can try leaving the TV unplugged for 30 minutes so the TV can reset itself.

2. If you have some electronic experience, if you can find and purchase a Service Manual at Tvtechcenter.com:
http://www.tvtechcenter.com/xcart/search.php?mode=search&page=1 It will help you diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The Service Manual will give you circuit diagrams, test points, and part# lists.Usually, cost under $6. And most cases the new part cost less than $15.
http://www.partstore.com/Part/Funai%20Corporation%20Inc/Funai/LTZ2PC0MS008.aspx

http://www.encompassparts.com/products/?LTZ2PC0MS008

3. Pay a TV shop to do the repairs. It maybe costly, but get an estimate of how much they will charge. That way you can decide if it worth repairing or replacing the whole TV.
