My computer is not recognizing my printer. I've downloaded the drivers from the manufacturers site, but still doesn't work. I've tried the printer on a neighbors laptop and it worked fine. Appreciate

    Yes, downloaded and installed. Don't have a 21 pin connector laying around to try out.

    you may try to install a generic driver for your printer with a PCL-5 driver. My printer would not work with the factory drivers by HP. I had to install a generic one.

I had this problem i was told to uninstall the software and driver and try again and it worked.

I am not sure you downloaded the correct drivers. Since you neglected to give the make and model number of your printer I can't give you much help except to say that the drivers are specific to your model printer and compatability to your laptop!

    I think my question got cut off. The printer is a Canon i560, and I downloaded and installed the drivers for my operating system (Windows 7 64bit) direct from the Canon USA website.

Did you and try to run the software or did you just download it? I had a problem with an HP 2340tn printer and couldn't get it to mork on my laptop until I changed back to the old style 21 pin... connector cable.

I had a similar problem! Here is what eventually worked for me, after searching through postings for hours on end...

First, I made sure I had the new driver. Second, (and this might be different for you), my computer recognized my printer, but any time I sent something to print, it never made its way there. The little printer icon at the bottom said 1 document pending, then quickly said 0 documents pending, but nothing ever printed. When I ran HP diagnostics, it said everything was okay with the printer, and even printed a test page! But still nothing from any other program. So, eventually I went to control panel, then printers, then I clicked on the HP printer, then right clicked and went to properties. I changed two things in here, and I'm not sure which one was the solution. First, I changed the security settings (in the security tab) so that every user had access to all options for the printer. Second, on the advanced tab, I selected print directly to printer instead of the spool print documents option. And tada it worked!

May not solve anyone elses problem, but I didn't see this solution in any of the posting sites, so I thought I'd share it. Give it a try!

How are you connectiong it to the Mac? If you are using a USB to Parrell device, that may be the problem. The best and stable way to do it is by using the optional print server.
The 4100 has a formatter board on the left side of the printer (looking at printer from the back).This board has a slot for an optional EIO print server board. You can purchase this through HP and then set the printer up through your router/network.

2 ways to scan from HP printers

First* try from "my computer" ... near the bottom of the page you should see "scanners" in there, try clicking that and follow prompts

Second* go to start/ programs/ HP/ HP Solution Center
all scanning choices should be on the left

1) Make sure the wireless setting on your network are the same for both the computer and printer.
2) If wireless is correct, suggest you connect the printer with a USB cable and go through the setup process for the printer from new.
3) If you tried both above, test your printer with the self test (see printer directions for how)

Bad USB conection?


If your camera's driver is not installed, it will not work.
Make sure you go to the manufactures site, and download the correct driver there.
However, if your driver IS installed, then yes, your USB cord might have gotten bad.

TSP 700 printer on 32 bit windows 7. It doesn't stop printing and the paper just keep coming out. I've tried to reinstall driver and swapped the printer with the same model with another comput


Check if interface at the back of printer is interchangeable to the type of port your computer will support it. Direct USB to USB or direct connection is recommended to avoid future issues.

Canon ix6550 not working


Have you tried going into the printers option in your control panel? If not, hopefully the printer will show up there and you can try updating the driver and make sure you use the 'update from the internet' option. If the printer doesn't show up, try adding it by utilizing 'add new device', and select the model from the list. Remove the BT211 module. Install the drivers that can be downloaded from the link above. Shut down the computer. Plug in BT211 and turn on machine. The unit should be recognized and drives put in place to make everything work for you.

Scanner is disconnected or Turned off.


Try going to manufactures web site and downloading drivers for the printer from there. Also you might check your device manager to see if the unit is being recognized by your computer. it should show up iunder USB or Printers. I had an Epson that did the same thing but mine was a wireless and I had to re-establish coneection and go through setup again to have my IP address recognized. Most of the time plug n play will pick up the new device.

You might also try running security and windows updates on your computer, there might be an update that is keeping the computer from recognising the printer anymore.

Its just a start of what could be going on, hope its an easy fix.

Cannot get my Lexmark Z2420 printer working--it has the wi-fi capability, but trying to connect it via USB. Should be plug-and-play but windows makes a sound like it recognizes it, but nothing comes up as...


A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer. Reboot your pc. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer. Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection.


If that doesn't help, try the steps below:

1. Disconnect the printer from your computer.

2. Rebrick (pull out power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds).

2. On your computer, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes.

3. Delete the Lexmark print object.

4. Reboot your pc.

5. When your pc turns on, reconnect the printer.

6. Wait until your pc fully recognizes the USB connection. To check, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes. If you see a new Lexmark print object in the list, then try to print again.


You may also try to update your printer driver by visiting the Lexmark website at http://bit.ly/9xPHL4. Select your operating system, download and execute the file.

I replaced the toner drum and i still get a message saying i have no toner - is there anyway to reset the printer to recognize the new toner drum?


try to reinstall the printer driver software. you can download the printer driver software from your printer manufacturer's web site then restart the computer and printer.

Yes it is a print driver problem, Unplug usb, delete all previous attemps at install, delete print software and drivers, Download and install correct driver from HP, plug in usb only when directed to do so.
