Can't call long distance with new phone

I bought a new phone a couple of months ago and am unable to call any long distance numbers. Local calls are fine, toll-free calls are fine, but when I try to call long distance I get an error message telling me call somewhere. I called the number it's the GE place, but there is no real help there. It's all automated crap and there aren't any real people. HELP!

Suggest you check with your phone company first. Many areas now require you to sign up for "long distant calling plan" before you can call "long distance".

I downloaded the manual for your phone. What exactly are you doing when you call long distance? Key stroke for key stoke would help.

First, are you dialing a "1 (one)" before the Area Code? or trying to dial from the phones memory? Because the instructions only say to insert the Area Code.

Why wont long distance faxes go through?

There could be several reasons why your fax machine is unable to send long-distance faxes. Here are a few possible causes to consider:
  1. Phone line issues: Long-distance faxes may require a stronger and more stable phone connection than local faxes. If there is interference or noise on the line, the fax machine may have difficulty communicating with the recipient's fax machine. You could try calling your phone company to check the line quality.
  2. Fax settings: Check that your fax settings are correct, including the country code and area code. It's also possible that the recipient's fax machine has changed settings or is experiencing technical issues.
  3. Busy phone lines: Long-distance fax transmissions may be affected by busy phone lines or heavy network traffic. You could try sending the fax at a different time, such as during off-peak hours.
  4. Fax machine issues: Your fax machine may have a hardware or software issue that is preventing it from sending long-distance faxes. You could try resetting the machine to its default settings or contacting the manufacturer for assistance.
It's also worth noting that some businesses and organizations have implemented measures to prevent unsolicited faxes, such as blocking faxes from unknown or unapproved numbers. If you're still having trouble after checking the above factors, you could try contacting the recipient to ensure they are able to receive faxes from your number.

Phone adds #1 to local calls in caller ID

talk with your service provider
if the number 1 is placed before a local number then logically when calling that number, the number would be recognized as a local number and be charged as such
Form what you say , if the number was from a caller in a different state and the number was prefixed by say 6 then the system would recognize that as a long distance call
again talk with your service provider and if accurate contact your state governor or senator and make an issue of the law requiring the prefix number on caller id

I suddenly cannot make long distance phone calls

Sometimes there is a setting in the phone to allow only local calls, but if that is not the case, it may be, like a couple of times happened to me, that you have gotten "slammed". Carefully check your phone bill or call them to see if your services have been changed. This was a big problem for me a couple of years ago. Good Luck!

I bought a gun safe (the protector) about 3 years ago. I forgot the original password to operate the door an so I was able to manage with the key. Over the past few months I have unable to open the safe...

hello eustus... your best bet is to call your local lock smith and have him provide you with a couple of new keys and he will also be able to reset your password for you. Joe

I have a HTC Desire that I bought before 8 months on Three Network from United Kingdom. Now I have moved to a different country but my cellphone seems to be network locked. How can I unlock it now?

I bought my HTC Desire from Three Network about half a year ago. Just a couple of days ago, I called Three at 333 to get my unlock code. It took about half an hour to verify me and my credit card details. I suppose you could call their international number at 00447782333333. It costs me 15.32 pounds to unlock.

LAND LINE TELEPHONES: Can you not assign a long distance carrier?

Yes you can have your phone set to local calls only.
You have to speak with your service provider and tell them you no longer wish to be able to call long distance from your house phone. but still want local calls only.

I can't make long distance call?

Is this a recording, or does the phone display this ?

If this is a recording, it is from the long distance provider. Did you change long distance companies lately?

Call your long distance company....this is their fault.
