Question about SanDisk Sansa Clip MP3 Player

Sansa Clip Won't take a charge...

Just bought the Sansa Clip adn it woked fine until the charge ran low. We plugged it in to the computer and the battery icon looked it was charging, but even after several hours the device is almost dead. We've restarted it several times but this doesn't work. How do you get this thing to hold a charge?

Thanks for your reply - we're using the cable that came with the device adn there wasn't any other in the box with it except the headphones. Yes, it is a new device and this would have been its first charge. I'll probably just return it and get an MP3 from a different manufacturer. There's lots of things I already don't like about the device anyway. I like SanDisk's products in general, but their mp3 players seem to have a lot of problems.

My Sansa clip mp3 is also not charging after owning it for 1 year. I talked to Best Buy. Another person had the same problem why I was asking. The help desk suggested a new battery. How can I get a battery? The case doesn't open very easy.

Are you sure the cable you are using provides both data and power to the device? Some cables are data only and will not charge the device despite appearing so.

Has it held a charge before? If this is a new device and has not yet ran down then charged fully again yet, then I would return it.

I had the same problem this morning, albeit with my 8G Clip. Nothing worked -- the thing seemed dead as roadkill -- until I found a link about "forcing MSC mode." Basically, it told me to hold down the center button while plugging my Clip into my computer using my USB cable. Suddenly, boom! It's awake and alive and happy again. I'm unsure how that works, but that did it for me.

Sansa clip won't charge fully

If you have a phone charger with the same connector, plug in you Clip and leave it overnight. This will fully charge the battery. There is not enough power from the USB port.

Sansa Clip won't charge

Here's the thing, technically it doesn't need to be turned on because it's supposed to turn on by itself.

I've had a problem sort of like that. It might be the plug, but it also might be the computer. I'd either suggest try plugging it into another computer or getting a new plug.

My sanDisk Sansa Clip MP3 Player will not charge anymore. At least not on the computer I'm on. I have had it hooked up to charge for 2 days now and nothing. Why is this and how can I charge it?

This is direct from the sansa FAQs at http://www.sansa.com/support/sansa_clip/faqs 02. Why won’t my Sansa Clip charge when I connect it to my computer? USB Cable
Make sure that the USB cable is properly plugged in and use the original cable.

Computer in Hibernation mode
Make sure that the computer isn’t entering hibernate or sleep mode while the device is connected. The computer must be on in order to charge your player.

USB Port 2.0
Make sure your player is connected USB 2.0 port (1.1 occasionally causes charging problems).

USB Port location
Try plugging in different USB port (i.e. USB port in the back of the computer); sometimes the front USB ports have problem charging up the device.

Battery
Make sure the battery is fully charged. It takes approximately 3 hours to fully charge the battery.

Latest firmware
Make sure to update firmware by downloading and installing the Sansa Firmware Updater.

I hope this helps, and don't forget to rate the answer.

Can turn on

The Sansa can sometimes break overnight if you sleep on it. This happened to me. I don't think this is really a solution, but if you bought it at BEST BUY, they have a 2-year guarantee for a new one.

Sorry,
Big Tony
