Question about Cell Phones
The sound isn't working when receiving calls and messages and keytones aren't working but can still hear when talking to people
It could be that your volume is set to silent. The volume buttons should be on the left or right side just push the top part of the button you should hear your phone ring or beep or make some kind of noise when u do this.

SOURCE: Not able to talk
You might have severed a wire that's connected to the phone's speaker. You were very lucky to save your phone as much as you did. I don't think there's anything you can do yourself, but you probably won't have to replace the whole thing, if you find a cheap place to service it. Just some minor work. I find this one of the main problems with living with celular phones these days, you can't push people into a pool anymore. If anyone comes up with a waterproof Cell phone, that person would be a milionaire ;] Good luck!

go to tools and setting --> sound settings --> keypad volume...see if you see "KEYPAD VOL-EARJACK"...that means that your phone is stuck in EARJACK mode....get a wired ear piece, plug it in, make a call, and then unplug after you end the call....that should resolve your problem...

best option is to get a new phone, but you have invested thousands of bucks so get it repaired. there must be a small problem in the chip that detaches the speaker or the ribbon which is a default defective device in samsung slide phones.
