Question about Pioneer HTZ-77DV System
Was working fine then it sat back in a box in storage for a year and now it does not power up. Cables look fine and there is no obvious damage. Are the capacitors shot? Is it worth sending out for repair
No, the capacitors are not shot. I don't know why everyone fixates on that. There's allot more to electronics than capacitors. Pioneer is not particularly known for bad capacitors, as they use a higher grade part. It could be a power supply problem. It could have a bad microprocessor(computer) IC. It could have DC Offset, meaning a damaged amplifier. As to whether it's worth fixing, I can give you more information. SOURCE: pioneer htz-77dv Tray Lock
We had the same Pioneer DVD "tray lock" problem and I tried holding the button for 10 seconds and nothing happened. Tried 30 seconds, nothing happened. Tried almost a minute and nothing happened.
What worked: Not sure how long I held it the last time, but was holding it down while very very gently picking with my nails at the edge of the tray to try to pry it out a bit, and it opened! Now it seems to be working again.
