If you havent tried reset then a restore may fix it if you did a backup before you set the password. If you can read the contents on a pc there is supposedly a file that holds the pw that can be deleted which will then prompt you next time you boot up to give it a new pw but aint verified that one

I need the pin code to unlock this device

You may read advice advising you to use a secret menu to erase all user data. This is done by starting with the nuvi switched off and then pressing and holding the bottom right corner of the screen and then, whilst still pressing the bottom corner, turning the unit on. Please note that although this erases all previous user data including mapping and POI's, it does not bypass Garmin Lock. There is NO bypass for Garmin Lock except by taking the unit to the owner's security location; it would be a useless theft deterrent otherwise.

I bought this model froma lad in the tradeit it requires a password which idont have and i can no longer find the lad is there anything i can do to reset thesystem password

Basically, you've wasted your money on a useless and totally unusable unit, sorry.

You have Garmin Lock activated on your nuvi: there are only two ways you can unlock it.

1. Enter the PIN code (but you clearly don't have it or you wouldn't be reading this).

2. Take the unit to the Security Location chosen when Garmin Lock was first activated: it will then unlock without the PIN code and you can then either reset the PIN or disable Garmin Lock. The Security Location should not be the owner's home address, but many owners ignore this recommendation. Many owners choose their workplace or a close friend or relatives address for this purpose.

If neither option works then your unit is useless unless you send it to Garmin with proof of purchase. Garmin charge for the service and if your maps are not up to date then it's really a waste of money as the investment would be better spent on a new unit with current mapping.

There is NO bypass for Garmin Lock except by taking the unit to the owner's security location; it would be a useless theft deterrent otherwise. The entire point of Garmin Lock is to make the unit worthless to thieves, and to those who steal the unit by finding it without handing it to the authorities. It's unfortunate that it also catches out unwitting and innocent buyers of previously-owned Garmins, but that's the lesser of two evils.

I hope that you manage to either fix your problem using my advice or at least can decide whether to abandon the unit and buy another.

Locked out of my nuvi 255w askin for a 4 digit num code bought it from a friend of a friend help plz

This problem cannot be solved. You will need to send it to Garmin with an original receipt from an authorized Garmin dealer in order to have Garmin reset the password. Otherwise, you will need the friend of a friend to give you the PIN to unlock it. This is a security feature on the Garmins and cannot be bypassed.

How to bypass password on my device

There is NO bypassing the PIN. It is a security feature designed to prevent the unit from functioning if stolen. If you loaned the device to your children, ask them the PIN. If they don't remember, ask them where they were when they set it. This is the security location. Going there will unlock the unit and you can then remove/change the PIN.

Garmin nuvi 200 password locked and i did a master reset but that didnt fix the password problem

Resetting the unit, as you discovered, will NOT reset or bypass a PIN entered to protect the unit from unauthorized use. The only ways to unlock a PIN locked Garmin are:

1 - Enter the correct PIN
2 - Take the unit to the location at which the PIN was entered
3 - Send the unit back to Garmin. Be aware, however, if you are not the owner of record, Garmin will NOT return the unit to you.

I forgot my pin numbrer for garmin 205w. is there anyway to bypass security code

Unfortunately, even if you perform master reset on Garmin GPS unit, it does not reset Garmin Lock security feature, which password-protect most Garmin electronic devices to deter theft. If you forget the PIN or password unlock code to unlock the Garmin unit, the best solution is to bring it to Garmin to get unlocked. “Secure Location” does not unlock a locked Garmin unit either as it’s only a temporary fix as when it’s turn on outside the security location, the device is locked again."
So unfortunately, there is only one option: You have to send your nüvi into the Garmin, who can unlock it. Remember original receipt.

Tom Tom Go 710, There is a password set on it and

TomTom say that you will need to return the unit to them to unlock it, but there is an independant prog download available that costs £40. How good that is I don't know, so I suggest you mail TomTom Service dept to see what they say. I reckon it is the cheapest alternative.
