SOURCE: My husqvarna zero turn mower has an auto safety

There should be a switch under the seat. The system is designed to stop all functions if no one is setting in the seat. I believe the seat switch has failed.
Check it out and let me know.

SOURCE: engine dies when clutch brake released on husqvarna gth2548

First check the seat switch, make sure it is plugged in tightly, these plugs have a safety tab built into them that will cut the engine off if you unhook it,sometimes the plug latch pulls out slightly and this will cut the engine, There are two other switches in the system one on the foot clutch and on on the mower clutch, if you follow the white wire from you ignition switch it will lead you to both of them, check those connections also.

A safety feature appears to be stopping my mower from turning over

You will have at least 2 safety switches. One is the clutch/brake pedal activitated and the other is the seat switch. It sounds like the clutch/brake pedal switch is not allowing the starter to engage the flywheel and start the mower. Check for the switch under the footrest or near the back of the mower. Should be easy to find. Check it with an ohm meter and verify it is working. you could use a wire with 2 aligator clips to jump the switch but dont make this a permanent solution. Replace the switch if it is bad. One thing to consider is the ignition switch. Since you can jump the solenoid and the engine turns but wont run, you may have no power to the ignition/coil to fire a spark to the sparkplug. You need to turn the key to RUN and then jump the solenoid to confirm this. I think it will be one of those as the seat switch only kills the motor if the deck is engaged and the seat raises up. Let us know.

Will not start. Can jump accross the selinoid and

I assume that you are jumping the solenoid in order to bypass an ignition switch that is no longer operating?

If so, did you have the key turned to the run position?

You should not need to bypass any safety switches, just be sure that everything is in the normal starting position. (deck disengaged, in neutral, etc.)

Either way, it sounds like you have a bad ignition switch, or faulty wiring between the ignition switch and the solenoid.

MTD riding lawn mower will not start. Know for sure not the engine or the battery. When the clutch is depressed and ignition switch is turned no sound, nothing. Could the problem be in the Clutch Safety...

Hello:

>>From your Description it Sounds like the Clutch/Brake Switch Bracket has Bent and the Safety Switch is Not being Moved enough to Activate this Switch.
>>The Following is an Instruction File for the Safety Switch System. Any Input is Appreciated.
>>The Color Code of the Wires May be Different than those I Use as a Reference in the Instruction File.
>>**PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR CHECKING THE SAFETY SWITCHES IS JUST THAT!!! FOR CHECKING ONLY.
>>I NEVER Suggest a Mower be Operated with a Safety Device or Switch Disconnected or Bypassed.
>>**Now. On Some Model Mowers you can Simply Unplug the Safety Switch from the Harness. On Other Models you have to Place a Jumper Wire Between the Harness Terminals (on the 4 Post Switch (Clutch/Brake) Jumper from Same Color Wire (Example: White to White) First and then Check for Fire, Now Include the Black to Black Wires if No Fire. Check the Clutch/Brake and the Blade/PTO Safety Switches First. Then Check the Oil Guard Switch (if Applicable). Check the Seat Safety Last. Usually the Seat Safety is Not in the System for Starting the Engine. Just to Ensure Someone is in the Seat when Engaging the Transaxle and/or Blades. Use a Paper Clip or a Short Wire to Make a Jumper.**
>>Use a Multimeter and Check the Continuity of the Switch. The Meter should Show when the Contacts are Closed and Open. The Meter will Swing All the Way Over when the Switch Contacts are Closed and Swing Back to the Rest Point when the Switch Contacts are Open.
>>Send me the Model Numbers Off the Mower, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. The Model Numbers are Usually Located Under the Seat on a Sticker or Tag on the Body.
>>Thanks.

Respectfully

1998 craftsman mower w/19.5 hp Briggs and Stratton will not fire.

Hello B-N-L:

>>I Suggest you Check the Ign Module First and then the Safety Switches if the Ign Module (Coil) is Good. Remember that the Ign Module May Check Good, but if the Safety Switches Check Good, then Most likely the Coil is in the Early Stages of Breaking Down and will Cause this Problem.
>>You can Check the Ign Module (Coil) by Using the Following Instruction File.
The Following is an Instruction File I Made for Checking and Repairing this Problem.
>>Run the Engine Until it Quits, then Remove the Spark Plug. Wrap a Wire Around the Threads and Attach the Other End of the Wire to the Engine Block Turn the Engine and See if the Plug Fires.
>>If No, then Disconnect the Shut Off Wire at the Control Bracket First, Check for Fire at the Plug. If Still No Fire at the Plug; Then Disconnect the Shut Off Wire at the Coil (usually requires removal of the blower housing) and Check for Fire at the Plug.
>>If No Fire at the Plug , then the Coil/Ign Module is Bad. The Coil/Ign Module to Flywheel Gap is .020in.
>>On Some Model JD Engines, there is a Igniter that Goes Bad and Not the Coil. The Igniter is the Same as an Ignition Module. If the Plug Fires at Anytime During these 2 Checks, then a Safety Switch or Wire May be the Problem. Yes the Engine will Turn Even with a Bad Seat Safety Safety Switch. Usually if the Engine will Not Turn with the Ign Switch; the Blade Safety or Neutral/Clutch Safety Switch is Usually the Cause of this.
>>The Starter Turns and the Engine Doesn't Fire is an Indication of a Bad Coil/Ign Module or a Faulty Blade Safety Switch.
>>The Blade and Clutch Safety Switches Prevent the Starter from Engaging so the Blades or the Mower Does Not Move when the Starter Turns the Engine.
>>The Seat Safety is Designed to Stop the Engine if the Blades are Engaged or the Clutch Safety is Not Engaged when you Leave the Seat.
>>The Following is an Instruction File for the Safety Switch System. Any Input is Appreciated.
>>The Color Code of the Wires May be Different than those I Use as a Reference in the Instruction File.
