Go to Control Panel > Power Options
You will need to change the setting for when it is connected on battery and when it is connected on power.

Hp dv6000 touchpad - left button doesnt work - what do i do

Does the button actually click when you touch it? If it does not, if you cannot feel a "click" then the button underneath the plastic had collapsed and the actual button board underneath the touchpad area will have to be replaced. It is actually cheaper to just buy another palmrest with the touchpad assembly in place.
