You are not stupid nobody is computer stupid

Control panel display then screensaver
click power at the bottom and then you'll see options to set for sleep standby shutdown change then click apply
at the top of page click hibernate if a check in box remove it see if that helps.
You can also do a diskdefrag and scan disk
Allow air to circulate around your laptop vents
if it gets outrageously hot i would take it and have it checked

If your acer is like mine it gets very hot and a thermal curout switch shuts down the item, to prevent damage to cpu.
i raised mine, and put a cooling pad unit under it, which the 3 fans driven by a usb plug continually cool it, i also moved into a cool room with good air circulation.

    click

    "start"

    "control panel"

"power options" under power schemes look at settings ans adjust to your needs.

i have mine "always on" or "never" when connected to power and when on batteries "after 5 min"

Why isMy Acer aspire gettting really hot, would replacing the battery help?

Sometimes, the computer gets really hot because the "ventilation" (cooling) system (fan, etc.) is not working properly. Normally, if it gets too hot, i.e. to an unacceptable level, the system will shut down. Or, it will catch on fire.
Yes, it's known that some battery will get too hot ... and potentially damage the system. So, if you already know that the cooling system is working properly, then try replacing the battery.

Overheating issues

Hi,
Most likely the cause of the overheating is the fan its not running properly though you may hear the fan is running but its not working as it used to, also I suggest try to check where is heat coming out from if its on the Hard drive bay, Memory bay or the CPU area, try to fell also the air vent if you feel coming out from it.

You can try this steps and see if it fix your issue.

1. Follow this link to download Speedfan: http://www.almico.com/speedfan443.exe
2. Open and install Speedfan.
3. Launch Speedfan (this usually takes at least a minute to start).
4. Observe the temperature readings you receive. If your temperature readings are above 60 degrees Celsius or higher, especially when the computer is idling, then your laptop is running too hot. If your laptop temperature is below 60 Celsius, then leave Speedfan running and check on it periodically to see if the laptop is heating up (whether idling or in use).

If you are sure your laptop is overheating, then there are a few stopgap measures that you can employ:
1. Place the laptop on top of a cookie sheet.
2. Place laptop on edge of table so that the air vents on the bottom of the laptop are not being blocked.
3. Use a standing fan and turn it directly on the laptop.

Ways to fix laptop from overheating:

Follow this link for pictures and text explaining the next several steps. http://www.insidemylaptop.com/disassemble-acer-aspire-5610z-laptop/
(The laptop model used in these pictures isn't exactly the same as yours but it should be close. Don't worry, this process isn't that difficult, and you won't have to go any farther than removing the cooling fan.)
1. Turn off laptop, unplug laptop, and remove the battery.
2. Unscrew all panels on the back of the laptop.
3. Remove RAM, Hard drive, and cooling fan by following steps 1-8 on the linked website. Skip removing the DVD drive (step 6).
4. Using compressed air, a vacuum cleaner, or an air pump, blow air into the now open compartments in the back of the laptop.
5. Blow out the dust and dirt in the cooling fan.
6. Reassemble and turn on laptop.
7. Run Speedfan and monitor your temperature.
If your laptop is still running hot, then either employ the stopgap measures or take the laptop to a laptop technician. The laptop technician can take your laptop completely apart, reapply thermal grease to the CPU heatsink, and blow out more dust and dirt.
Good luck, thanks for using FixYa, and please post back to this solution if you have any difficulties.

Hi,

Most likely the machine is overheating, it could be the fan is not running normally but just to make sure if its hardware or software I suggest try to diagnose your machine and you can try this steps.

Your analysis of the laptop overheating is likely correct but you should run some diagnostics to see how hot your laptop is running.

1. Follow this link to download Speedfan: http://www.almico.com/speedfan443.exe

Acer laptop gets hot and turns off-acer replaced one fan under warranty. Still have prob. but war is out

Here's a link to how to clean your cpu cooling fan. The system does shut down due to a thermal cut off, so you want to keep the heat down. Use compressed air on all the air slots. Also open up the bottom and scrape the fan of dust, or whatever if dirty. If the fan doesn't come on you can get one online. They're fairly inexpensive.

Here's a fan purchase outfit. Use this link. If you don't see your system, give them a call as the 6530 may use a fan that's the same in another acer model. The vendor should know.

Shutting off

IT could be malware or a virus, i recommend scanning your computer with a good antivirus, your other problem could be your computer is overheating so its shutting dow to protect itself,, your fan must be clogged with dust bunnies... blow really hard on your fan vent or open it up from the bottom and clean it out....

Hi There , Remove the bottom cover of your notebook, You'll see in the corner there is a little fan,
1. Make sure that fan spins when you turn the notebook on.
2. Make sure that the airvents are clean, they might be blocked with dust.

That causes the Processor to get to hot, and then when it reaches a certain temp it shuts down, and you wont be able to turn it on until it cools down....Good luck, It's really easy to clean just blow it out, using a blower or some sort...

need more info....does it replicate without the battery? If it does, then it may be that the processor is overheating and shutting down the computer. Try to run with just the power adaptor and see if it happens. If it doesn't, then its probably the battery....

Acer aspire 3000 gets very hot

You need to try to clean the CPU fan. Try to blow air towards the air vent of your laptop and then through the inlet alternatively.

Hope this Helps.
If it does, Please Vote. Thanks!
