I had the same problem. It was solved when i sent the notebook to acer assistance. They simply applied more thermal grease, because when assembling the notebook processor, they only use the thermal grease sent with the processor out of the box, wich i was told, was not enough.
And after that, a friend of mine told me I should try using a protocol called undervolting. I whould only recomend it if you have some knowledge because it takes a lot to configure your notebook to undervolt the processor.
The fact is that after i sent my notebook to the tech assistance it never overheated again even before i had it undervolted.
Hope i was helpfull.

The fan bushing is worn. There should be no sound from the fan whatsoever, and it should only kick on under extreme workloads.
Replace the fan soon, as if you repeatedly run the processor hot, you may encounter further damage.

I bought a lenovo g580 laptop, and the computer shuts down after 30 minutes of use. The temperature is around 45~50 degrees which isn't that huge.

Sounds like temperature or maybe a faulty battery. Are you using the laptop on a hard flat surface? Need to in order for the system fan to keep everything cool. Also , are the vents free of dust and debris?

My laptop is over heating

Hi! first, i would like to ask if you are using cooling fan? if does, then i'll give you some tips on how to keep your laptop from overheating

1. Turn off your computer and allow it cool down.

2. Work with your laptop on a flat surface. The rubber feet on your laptop are designed to allow airflow to the underside of the computer, so if you are working on a bed or other soft surface, you cut off the airflow. If you do want to work away from a desk or table, try keeping your computer on your lap, exposing the underside to air.

3.Shut down your laptop before placing it in your carrying bag.

4 Give your laptop a bit more lift to increase the airflow under the machine. Two simple, flat rulers placed along the front and back edges of your computer is enough to increase the flow of air and keep your laptop cool.

5 .Unplug your charger as soon as the battery is full. A common mistake people make is leaving their computer plugged in at all times. However, the constant source of electricity will heat your battery and in turn overheat your laptop. Only charge your computer as long as necessary.

Hope this would be helpful.

My loptop keeps restarting every 5 minuts

If you are notusing your laptop on a flat surface, it may be obstructing the cooling vents onthe bottom of the laptop. Your laptop fanmay be faulty and not spinning freely, in this case replace the fan.
Check the fan and heat sink assembly and remove the dust, loosen the dust anduse a can of compressed air to clear away the dust. A laptop fanassisted cooling pad may solve your problem

Hi this is Martina, my Sony Vaio laptop shuts off by itself without warning. Sometimes it's after 2 minutes of being online or 5 or 20 minutes. The battery is charged and it also does it when its plugged...

Could be over heating, make sure you are using your laptop on a hard flat surface. If you smother the fans underneath , temperature inside will rise and cause it to shut down. Also verify that the fans are working when you turn it on, see if you can feel them pushing air out, or if you can hear them.

My acer extensa 4420-5963 gets really hot and shuts down. also, my battery seems to lose and gain charge within a few minutes. And norton's report says the laptop is running on low memory. help! please

It could all be down to the heat problem.

Check the fan housing, is it clear of dust. If not there is usually lies the problem.

When using the latop, ensure its on a flat surface so the air can circulate around the vents and fans.

My laptop an Acer Aspire 5610z shuts dow every 5 minutes. The fan is running VERY loud and the bottom of the computer gets very hot. I am using it on a flat hard surface so I have no idea why it is doing...

if your acer is like mine it gets very hot and a thermal curout switch shuts down the item, to prevent damage to cpu.
i raised mine, and put a cooling pad unit under it, which the 3 fans driven by a usb plug continually cool it, i also moved into a cool room with good air circulation.

Aspire 5100

Hi Fayez,

How soon does the laptop switch off? Immediately, or a few minutes into booting into Windows, or ... ?

It could be an overheating issue. If you're using it on your lap or on a soft surface such as a couch or bed, the fan might not be able to release the heat.

Try putting something underneath the back of the laptop and place it on a stable surface such as a desk and boot it up - see if it still shuts down.

Otherwise, let me know how soon it's switching off, or at what point if it's the same point every time.

My Acer 5630 laptop turns off automatically

Alongside cleaning out the fan, try use your laptop on a hard surface, not your lap! Don't put anything like a pillow underneath. Use it on a flat hard surface and the heat has chance to escape!
