Question about GE Dryers
Dryer will power up with all lights on front working. Press start button and it just clicks then nothing. We pulled out the control board and saw the little burnt spot around the connection in back of where the motor relay is on the board. My question is - this board is at the least $200. Can we/should we just replace the motor relay or just try to resodder the existing. Also - should we be concerned as to what made it blow? This is a model MED9800TQ0 dryer.

no problem with motor or control board. fault is with the motor capacitor only. this is often attached to the motor or near it. the value of the capacitor will be printed on it (usually about 8uf) and you should be able to source from an electrical spares shop

Same problem here. I replaced the machine control electronics p/n 8546219 and got 12 months service out of it before it returned to what you are describing above. I even replaced all the LED's on the board and that did not do a thing. I can tell you that this will be the last whirlpool appliance that will ever enter my home. Simply overpriced garbage!
