SOURCE: IBM T40 Screen goes off after few seconds

survival,
Here's a couple of things to try:
Power down and remove the battery. Leave it out until you are done with the following procedures. Remove the memory modules and put only one back in. Try to power up. If that works, replace the other one and power up. If that works, you're fixed!
If not, try to power up in safe mode and see what happens. If it comes up, try running diagnostics on the HDD. If that fails, try reseating the hard drive.

Let me know how you're coming along on this. May be able to come up with more ideas, if needed.

If you need any additional information, please feel free to ask. If this information has assisted you in the resolution of you problem, please return here to give my assistance an appropriate final rating. SOURCE: My Acer Aspire 5100 wont start up correctly

I had the same problem after running an update to my Norton anti-virus software. When booting the laptop, press F2 to go to the setup menu. One of the options allows you to change the order that is searched when booting up. I moved the boot from hard drive to the last option, allowing it to boot from a network first (which it doesn't find), then from a portable device second (which it doesn't find), and finally from the hard drive. When I boot up, after it doesn't find the first two options, it boots from the hard drive with no problem.

SOURCE: acer 7720 will not boot

Do you want to try and see if a 'Linux LiveCD' boots? This is the way I test if the computer works. You burn this CD to a disk, and then boot off of it when you're computer starts. I will not modify anything on your computer as long as you go to 'Try Ubuntu with out installing'

http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download

Don't worry, I'm not trying to get you to install anything, just see if it boots into the 'live environment' (means you are running it off of the cd) If this works, that means that it is only your windows installation is messed up, and a reinstallation of windows should work fine with a Windows install CD NOT the recovery cd.

SOURCE: Computer won't boot Windows Vista. Screen goes black with cursor arrow.

In this case you have to do the PC restore . you can do that in dell machines by shutting down the machine and when it is coming back on just HOLD DOWN THE CTRL ket and the START HITTING f11 key in this case you will lose the data which you have the on the c drive but this issue will get resolved .

Else you can try to restart in the safe mode with networking and then go to the system restore and then select the bold dates in which you have idea you system was working fine . selct the date and then do the system restore . In this case you will not lose the data but you will lose the updates which you have done after that date .

in both the cases system will work .

Why does screen go black after a few seconds

Hope this helps.... Your monitor has an inverter issue. You know it's an inverter problem when:
1. Your monitor starts normally and displays the startup/desktop screen for a while.
2. Then it suddenly goes off, leaving a blank (black) screen or a very dim display.

To fix this black screen problem, change the inverter board (based on your monitor brand).

Emachine e640 blue screen

Hello you maybe have to upgrade the graphic driver.

I think you have an ATI/AMD graphiccard. Download this software:

http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/auto_detect.aspx

Or find the driver manualy.

You can even set the power control to extend the turnoff screen typical after 5 minutes for power saving purpose
do that in the control panel.

You can also seach for drivers here:

http://support.emachines.com/em/driver/

The files you may download maybe has to be unziped before installation.
The screen could also have a defect an has to be renewed.

Good luck

That sounds like the ballast unit powering the back light may have failed.
Consult a computer repair service for advice.

Did you try pressing the FN (function) key and F8?
F8 should have what looks like a computer or tv on it in blue.
Hope that works!

CANNOT COMPUTE!!!! NEED MORE DATA! Is your monitor the problem or the computer? Try connecting the monitor to another computer. You can also try connecting a laptop with an external video adaptor to the monitor to test it.
