SOURCE: wireless card in E1505 Dell not finding networks in range

The 1390 WLAN Minicard may not be configured to communicate with your wireless router.
Check the wireless router settings, (check the wireless settings on your other computer) and configure the 1390 WLAN with the same settings eg. SSID, WEP/WAP encryption, etc.
Is MAC address filtering enabled on your wireless router, if so add the MAC address of the 1390 WLAN to the MAC address list in the wireless router.

Check the TCP/IP properties of the 1390 WLAN card the Internet protocol should not have a fixed IP address, set it to Obtain an IP address automatically including the DNS.

Use the Ipconfig command to see the IP configuration of the network cards.

Use the Ping command to see if you can communicate with wireless router.

So u can connect to the router, but you arent allowet to access the internet?
The router gave your dell a new ip-number, but it dident gave you access to the net. You ned to do the settings in your router manual, let the router give your dell full access.

Good luck

SOURCE: I have problem with my vostro 1510 wreless, by switching the wireless and bluetooth key on, only the blutooth devise is turn on.

The Dell QuickSet utility Wireless options can cause these issues.

There is a setting to always deactivate on battery. Make sure this is not set up. The correct setting would be Always active on battery or Always On, or no power saving options for Wi-Fi. Depending on the version of QuickSet which you have.

It is known to glitch when power is removed from the machine while the wireless is in use.

Please let us know if you have any futher questions. If this information was helpful, please take a moment to rate the solution. Thank you.

Please try using Wireless 'G' mode only in the router. Also, try using 'TKIP' and not TKIP+AES for encryption.

Please rate this solution, if it works for you.

Cannot access wifi Netgear DG834GT

Hi Andy
Just a guess. The Netgear may be transmitting that your pc cannot connect to. ie. there are 3 'formats' (for want of a better word) that go under the names B,G and N. I'm simplifying now, B is the original wireless system that we all used. G is the much faster system that most recent machines use and N is the newer system that your router does not use. Your router can use B and G or B or G. I'm guessing that it might be set to B only and your machine is G or N. Theoretically It shouldn't make much difference but I have heard of instances when the newer machine cannot connect.
Of course I may be completely wrong and it's something else. I had an instance where with 2 laptops in the same room only 1 would access the Netgear but the other (although it could see it and would not lock on) would lock on quite happily to an open network transmitting from an adjacent building. After some hair pulling and cussing, I changed the transmitter channel on the router from 10 to 2 (or something completely different) and suddenly both laptops would lock on to the netgear without any issues.

How do I disable my DG834GT router firewall?

The router firewall only blocks connections coming from the internet.

Basically it only lets an outside IP connect to your network if you establish the connectoin FIRST.

The most common cause of not being able to see another PC on the LAN is not having the same workgroup name.

Go to Start > My Computer , right click > Properties > Computer name. Make sure all PCs have the same workgroup name.

Did you change your wireless SSID and channel? Better to enable encryption too. If this problem never happens when you're connecting to other wireless networks you might as well update or reload the firmware/software of your router.
