Just replaced the belts on my Hoover Windtunnel II self-propelled vacuum. The brushes are now turning ok, but the self propelled feature is not working. Squeals when when you lock it in the upright...

Check the plastic part, which the the self propelled cable is attached to. (release the handle, tilt it back. You should be able to see the cable attached by a screw to a black plastic arm.) It is either broken or the cable is lose.

Forward/back cable broke

The cable is user replaceable, but you will need to contact Hoover, or a parts center, to purchase the cable. You will remove the Upper Handle by removing the black screws at the base of the upper handle fit to lower handle (on back).
You will also have to remove the hood to loosen the one screw that holds the cable to the powerdrive gearbox.

Hoover Alyx 2000w, no power. Help!??

Its a possibility then that if the fuse has been replaced that the cable inside has either come apart or you have a broken switch. If its only a year then you should be covered automatically with Hoover's guarantee.

Hoover savvy upright, replaced belt, but brushes will not turn

One of the common problems with the Savvy models is the upper handle switch. However if it is newer, you may also have an issue with the lower cable. To test it, turn on switch in carpet mode, and at the bottom rear, wiggle thr exposed black cable. if the roller starts and stops then it is bad and needs replacement. the cost of the part is about $10 but labor intensive to replace.

I don't know how the end fits back on the replacement cable.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Hoover U6437-900 / U6439-900 Windtunnel Vacuum. There is a hook on the bottom of the vacuum and @ the top by the handle as well. You may what to get a schematic or owner’s manual to see how they hook up because of the newer and different Model #’s for Hoover. The Hoover Self-Propelled works on when the handle is lower to a comfortable position then the self-propelled drive may just need and adjustment. There is a self-propelled rod that controls the self-propelled feature and it either needs adjustment or replacement or the part that hold it may be broken but either one can be fixed. So feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer with questions. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Automatic rewind cable not working. Cable will only come out a few feet then jams. Currently using an extension lead. Any advice on how to free cable much appreciated.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
I am sorry that Henry Hoover is having a problem with his cordwinder and what happens that the cord tends to overlap the other cord inside of the vacuum and what needs to be done is this; #1 take apart the cordwinder and unwrap al the cord all the way out then re-wrap the cord and re-install #2, if that does not work then lubricate the cordwinder but not the cord to have it work more efficiently, and #3 if all else fails replace the cordwinder with a new one. Always when using the cordwinder, always pull out everything until the end to use the cord all the way out to prevent the cord from over lapping and binding up inside the Henry Hoover. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.
