110 volt photo frame connected to 240 volts outlet in India.

I connected a 110 volt digital photo frame to 240 volt outlet in India without using a convertor thinking that the unit was 110-240 volt unit. One I switched on some fumes started appearing from the unit. What could have possibly gone wrong. Is there a way to fix this.

Can the component that got fried be replaced with a new one. Which part could have possibly gone wrong. I am suspecting the adaptor that connects the unit to the power supply would take care of it. So if I replace the adaptor will it help me. Let me know if my thought is right.

    Thanks in advance.

It sounds like you put 240volts(220v) across a 120v line,in this case the 120v has a nuetral wire which is neccesary for proper operation, the nuetral wire is a ground,You put 120v across that line (ie. 120v +120v =240v) that how it works in the US.There is a transformer inside the power converter and in some phones or a rectifer bridge to keep and make voltages usable for the equipment you are using,I am sure that it is burned up in what ever smoked,In most cases it is cheaper to replace then repair.

I gave 240 volt to my 120 volt uniden cordless phone. Smoke came out and obviously it is not working now. How bad I messed up? Any repair work can fix this? What needs to b replaced

Most phone systems use the same AC adapter (wall block) for the base as they use for the remote charging bases. You may have just fried the base AC adapter. See if that is the case with your system and try the working AC adapter with the base to see if it will work or not. Good Luck.

You will have to plug it into a wall plug with a red button and a black one. And then press the black then red.

Phone battary is out of order & where shall i get it in India or in NZ

UNIDEN USE 800 MAH RECHARGEABLE CELLS (3 X 1.2 VOLT = 3.6 VOLTS) IN THEIR BATTERY. SIMPLEST SOLUTION IS TO CATCH HOLD OF THREE AAA RECHARGEABLE CELLS OF 900 MAH RATING OF ANY GOOD COMPANY AND ASK YOUR HOBBYIST FRIEND TO SOLDER THEM IN SERIES AND USE THE CONNECTION TAG FROM THE OLD BATTERY - RED WIRE TO POSITIVE AND BLACK TO NEGATIVE TERMINALS OF THE NEWLY SOLDERED BATTERY. CELLOTAPE THE THREE CELLS TO HOLD THEM TOGETHER. HOPE IT HELPS.

Accidently, I connected the uniden ac adapter to 240 volt ac supply.Base set blinked for a second and turned off.Can this be fixed

Well not cheaply i suspect, this will have "Blown" the transformer/power circuitry attached, usually though it ruins the entire phone as the instant it is connected everything get DOUBLE the voltage of normal. I suspect it is ruined.

My adapter is not working

US house current is 110-120 Volts and 60 cycles. Adapter must have this type of power. India has 220 Volts and 50 cycles ( Hz). You need an adapter designed for Europe/ India

The hand set has no dial tone. Also the display turns off and the phone beeps once shortly after the "Talk" button is pushed. I replaced the battery but still get the same results. Do I need a new handset...

Unplugged wall unit from the 110 volt outlet and the phone line from the unit for about 10 or more minutes. The phone worked after the phone line was reconnected and the wall unit plugged back in.

Dont know which solved the problem but I suspect it might have been unpluging from the 110 which could have reset the wall unit.

Power supply gigaset 8825

The power supply for the 8825 base is to be 13 volts AC, rated at 850 milliamps or higher. You can go anywhere from 13 up to 15 volts without hurting the unit, and a higher current rating is even better. We actually make them ourselves through bulk purchases of varieties of power supplys. Your next delimma will be the plug size, it is a pretty common size, most universal adapters will have the right size of the outer and inner connections.

No electrical outlet available for the base station (wall mounted)

most cordless phones need some access to 120 volt power to recharge the internal NiCad batteries. It wouldn't be cost effective to have on hand a bunch of charged batteries that you'd replace on a daily basis. they got to be charged up eventually.
