One Note is a crappy little program that comes with Vista. Your problem is located in the printer setup. Click on control panel, go to printers. Your Brother 240-c should be shown there. Right click on the icon for the Brother and click the item called, set as default. Now when you look at the printer icon, it should have a check mark beside it. If it does, the Brother is now your default printer. Now print some stuff. I hope this fixes your problem. Thanks for using Fixya!

My Brother HL-2070N printer won't print Web page

In January 2011 Brother update its drivers for your printer due to a compatibility problem. You haven't advised what operating system you're using but you apparently need to update your drivers.

If you are running Windows 7, you will have to update the drivers either from Microsoft Update or Brother. Click on this link for Brother.

If you are running Windows XP, CLICK HERE

My 9600 just prints pages and pages of numbers and symbols when I send anything to print

Sounds to me like you are using an incorrect printer driver, or corrupted settings. Please disconnect the printer USB or LPT cable the under control panel >>Printers , uninstall your printers. Surf to the brother website and download a new driver for your printer and Operating system version Vista / XP ect. then install the new driver software and reconnect the printer. Kind of a pain, but it will fix it. Take care

Hp desk jet f380 it wont print it as something in a que that wont delete

Hi

To resolve this issue I suggest you to download the printing diagnostic utility which will automatically delete the pending print jobs by restarting spooller service.

Note: If your operating system is Windows XP then clinck on the sublink in the below weblink and if your operating system is Windows Vista then perform the steps in the weblink:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00843712&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en

I am sure this will resolve the issue.

Thanks,

Roger

I send a document from WORD (ms vista) and nothing happens. Printer window shows a document to print.. but nothing ever prints. No lights blink as usual, nothing. restarted computer, still nothing.

Vista has most drivers, and certainly supports your printer.
Try this routine.
First turn on your computer.
Now, turn on printer, and connect the USB.
Vista will recognize it.
i) Go to printers and faxes and set your printer as default, because there are other software like One note which could be default.
OR ii) Go to your word document, ctrl+P for print settings, choose your printer from the drop down menu

I want to print new page of printing printer keeps churning out prvious printing instrctions i am 78yrs old still learning

Hi,

What you need to do is clear out the printing "QUEUE".

.
Clearing the Print Queue in Windows
The printer is one of the slowest devices in a computer system. If you had to wait for it to print your document before you could resume writing, you would quickly go back to using a typewriter. To eliminate the delay, Windows reserves a portion of memory for something called a “print queue” (or spooler). The queue works on a first-in first-out basis. You can continue to use the computer and send jobs to the spooler as it feeds a steady stream of data to the printer.
Print queues are nice, except when something happens in the printer to cause it to stop functioning. Sometimes it is just a paper jam and sometimes it is a bit more serious. If you need to cancel the jobs in the print queue, you can simply double-click the printer icon (in the system tray down by the clock) and open the print queue. Depending upon the length of your document and how many documents are waiting to print, the printer icon may appear briefly or for a sustained period. (Note: This would be a good time to remove the paper from the printer before continuing.) If the icon is not there, you can manually open the queue.
Open the Print Queue
  • Windows 98 - click Start, Settings, Printers
  • Windows XP - click Start, Printers and Faxes
or click Start, Control Panel, Printers and Faxes
  • Windows Vista - Start, Control Panel, Hardware and Sound, Printers
Double-click to open the appropriate printer's queue. The Print dialog box will open. Here you will see a list of all of the jobs waiting to print, along with the status of each job. The first print job is at the top of the list.
To cancel a document in the list, right-click it and select Cancel Printing. Most often, it is better to cancel all of the jobs and then resend the documents to the printer.
Cancel All Documents
  • Windows 98 - click Printer on the menu, select “Purge Print Documents”
  • Windows XP - click Printer on the menu, select “Cancel All Documents”
  • Windows Vista - click Printer on the menu, select “Cancel All Documents”
Please note that you must have Administrative rights in Windows XP and Vista to cancel print jobs. If you are the only user, you automatically have administrative rights. If you are on a multi-user computer, you must be an administrator. If are on a network and get a message saying that you do not have Administrative rights, find someone who does.
Under normal circumstances, printing documents are cancelled and will disappear from the queue. If one or more do not disappear, shutdown the computer and restart. When shutting down, you may get a message warning you that your print jobs will be lost if you continue. Tell Windows to shutdown anyway. When you restart, Windows may tell you that you have print jobs waiting. Tell Windows to delete them.
Before you resume work, open the Print Queue from the Start menu. You should find the queue empty. If you are using Windows XP or Windows Vista and the queue is not empty, you will be unable to print. Before trashing your computer, you can try to clear the queue using a secret Windows command.
Click Start, Run, and type “Net Stop Spooler” (without the quotes). Then press Enter. Shutdown the computer and restart. The print jobs should be removed. If they are not, shut down the computer again, take a deep breath, and then go for a long walk. The queue should be clear when you return. Note that you must restart the computer for your printers to resume normal operation.

This should solve your problem, Let me know how it works for you..

Printing problem for Brother MFC-8440

I dont believe this to be a printer hardware issue since you said it prints excel documents fine. If it were hardware related, it would genarally do the same thing to anything that is printed. I would advise you to download the latest and greatest driver for your printer.(make sure to download the correct one that jives with your operating system) I found this mirror site for your needed download if you need it... Brother DCP-135C Print Quality Settings Not Working Correctly

Have you uninstalled the driver, and reinstalled it?

Are you running Windows Vista? If so, have you downloaded the latest software from Brother's website? www.brother.com

It sounds like the driver is confusing the settings internally, which leads me to think that it is either corrupt or not compatible with your operating system.
