Question about Miele Vacuums

Need parts for discontinued Miele vacuum

I need to find and get a telescoping part for my Miele S344 vacuum. It has a two-prong plug at each end - one male and one female. There is a broken button on each portion of the telescoping 'wand.' - Doug

the S344 vacuum uses the SET220 wand (the old part number was SET210, which was not stainless enclosed but black metal). I have 5qty of the SET 220 and 1qty SET 210(my wife has a cleaning service and she is presently using Miele canister vacuums) The wands run about $105-$115 new. You can buy the button assembly that releases the tube to slide in and out for about $13.99. I have also repaired the lower interior sleeve or tube that has become detached from the lower attaching grey base with PVC glue(when this happens, the coiled wiring is exposed in the inside of the tube and trash and lint will stop up the vacuum tube's interior). It seems to hold better than the factory assembled glue, but is difficult to disassemble and re-assemble the tubes as you have to slightly tweak the stainless case at the plastic locks that secure the bottom insert to the stainless tube.

Miele power brush switch goes and and off when vacuuming

look for loose or broken plug, try holding the plug at each end to see where the weak spot is.
If the plug isn't the problem, then look for a broken wire.

Repair extension on miele vacuum?

My Hoover had the same problem. I disassembled the plug and socket and cleaned all contacts with alcohol, gently compressed the prongs in the female socket with a pair of pliers so they would grip the male pins more tightly, and reassembled everything. If your wand's socket won't come apart, use Q-tips to clean the contacts and a pair of small screwdrivers to squeeze the prongs together. Also, my wand had a some play in it which caused the contacts to loosen up in the first place, so I used adhesive-backed felt strips to keep it from wiggling. So far so good -- I'm at 18 months and counting!

THE ROLLER ON MY SHARK NAVIGATOR WILL NOT STAY ON, I CLEANED ALL THE HAIR FROM THE ROLLER AND IT STILL WONT STAY ON. IS THERE A BELT I NEED TO CHECK

We have only had our Navigator for 6 months and the bar won't turn. We took the whole beater bar head apart and it was a wiring problem in the beater bar motor.
What a piece of junk this is, very poorly made and has many design flaws.
Looking for something now to take it's place!

It stopped working while I was using it . I tried to plugged in different electric outlets but it still dead. What should I do or look into in order to get it back to normal?? thanks

I would start by taking the wand apart. Be sure vac is unplugged from the wall outlet! You should be left with two pipe pieces, and the beater bar. I would also pull the hose from the canister unit itself. Once all the pieces are pulled apart, check the two or three prong wire connectors on each piece, both the female and male ends. If you have any dielectric grease, use a dab on each electrical connection. Once you reassemble, and still not powering up, wiggle the wand back and forth at the connection near the canister, and after the hose near where the switch is. If the vac cuts on after wiggling it, then you have a loose connection, and will need to tighten the female ends on the electrical connections, by squeezing them together slightly with a pair of pliers. Please rate if this works or does not work. Thanks!

It sounds to me like the power cord has a short. To test your power cord you need a multimeter. Test continuity threw the power cord, from the male plug prongs, to the wiring inside the vacuum. You should get continuity from one prong on the male plug to only one wire on the other end of the power cord. If you test one prong but get a readying on 2 wires, then it is crossed. If you dont get any continuity on one or more of the wires, you have a short. A common place for a short in the cord is the male plug, you can find a replacement male plug at a hardware store and cut off the old one. When wiring the male plug, black wire goes to the gold post, white wire goes to silver, and green wire goes to the green post.

If your carbon brushes on the motor are warn, then that could cause the motor to stop, but other parts of the vacuum should still work so I dont think it is that.

Hope this helps.

Male plug needs to be replaced.

I had same problem with my lift-off, i sent email to Bissell explaining what the problem was and where to get replacement parts. They sent me emial back saying they will send me refeb replacement vacuum becasue this part has been discontinued (I think there is a prolem with lift-off and Bissell is trying to make it right for their customer without official recall). I did get my fedex lable and i sent entier length of cord from my lift-off back to them. I should be getting my refeb vacuum soon.

Your problem is probably a bad male cord end or the there is a problem with the cord winder. It might need a spacer.
