How can i fix it when kenmore type JD21, model 970-432603 refrigerator not cold but freezer is cold

Ice build up on the coils can cause this. If there is ice then you need to check the defrost timer first to see if it works. Then check the defrost coil, then the fan.

True, model: gdm-35. Can some one please tell me where the starter for the floursent tube lights located? T

front panel at top - 2 starters, one for top panel, one for internal lights. early cocacola models had them inside the bottom panel on the right, and some later models had electronic ballasts (no starters) in the centre under the bottom of the fridge.

Fridge starts for about 30 seconds then cuts out and No 5 light starts flashing, not in possession of a manual so would like to know what the problem is,sounds like the thermostat but who knows.

I think your start relay, run/start capacitor and overload on the side of the compressor need to be checked or replaced. What is happening now is called short cycling and if the refrigerator remains plugged in the internal overload could fail and really become a mess. If your refrigerator is a GE Profile, Artica this solution will focus more on the mother board. More on how to test compressor and locate model numbers HERE and near bottom of page. Neither the fridge or freezer side is working? what is the 1st thing to check the compressor sounds like it's running- could the defrost be stuck on or the mother board be bad?

Sure the first thing is to look inside the freezer and see if perhaps it is a defrost problem. That most times shows up as warming of the fresh food compartment and a layer of frost or ice layering the walls of the freezer with just near freezing temperatures. Most times people hear what they may think is the compressor running so I recommend that you pull away from wall and unplug, remove cover over compressor and feel top of compressor to insure that it has been running. If warm on top of compressor that will be OK but if cool or too hot to keep hand there we need to find out just what is going on. Most importantly you need to find Brand Name and Model Number=> Locating Model and or Serial Number GE has a way of locating models=> HERE

I have a LG model LFX25960ST refrigerator with an error code of FF. I know this means the freezer fan, but is that one of the fans located in the freezer? When looked up online, neither of those two fans...

yes, its located on the freezer; behind the rear wall. yours has 2 fans; one for the ice cube room (upper left corner) and the fridge/freezer motor (in middle) behind rear freezer wall. this is the motor you will need. the part number should be on it.

Fresh food compartment is not cold

Good day,
Not as much info as I would like, but here's a good list to get started with.
Note: Assuming the freezer is at or near normal.

1. Lights do not go out when door is closed. Can be tested by checking just before door closes completely.
2. Air circulation fan motor in freezer compartment, not running.
Can be heard when opening freezer door when machine is running.
Remove rear panel in freezer compartment, and repair or replace as necessary.
3. Most common. Defrost system failed.
The Auto defrost system is made up of three components.
1. Main heater, located behind the rear panel in the freezer compartment. 2. The defrost thermostat (often called a terminator) located on top of the evaporator coil which is located in the same area as in #1. 3. Defrost timer (either mechanical) or electronic) located in the fresh food compartment. This device initiates the defrost cycle once to twice a day.

Go to....

I need to replace the ballast on my GDM 12 freezer and I need to know where the balast is located

The ballast is located on the bottom inside wall where the compressor is located. Its usaually mounted, and can be easily removed and replaced. The ballast is rectangular in shape and has a few wires protruding from each end. To replace simply dismount the bad ballast and clip the wires. Match the ballast to a new one, reattach the wires using wire nuts, and remount ballast.

Freezer freeze up

Your model TFX20JRBKWWW uses a defrost timer part number WR9X489 located behind the light shield in the fresh foods compartment. (top back area). Just in case you need to know, the defrost heater is a part number WR51X10101 located behind the back wall of the freezer.
