Question about Dell TrueMobile 2300 Router (000001)

Dell Truemobile 2300 - cannot connect to internet

I recently moved from a home with cable internet through Time Warner.
Everything worked properly before the move. Now, I am trying to set up my Dell Truemobile 2300 router for my home using the Dell router and Dell Inspiron 8600 running Windows XP (yes, ancient). I am able to connect to the internet using DSL (by Embarq) without the router. When I add in the router, I cannot get online. Everything looks like it's working properly and using the installation CD has not helped. Sometimes, I can get to the my.router page to choose settings, but I cannot get the internet connect to work (wired or wireless) with the router hooked up.

I have the same problem. It used to work with my old linksys before I had to reinstall the OS with everything else. I am now using a new modem and it worked fine when connected directly but when I try to connect the router to the modem and connect to the internet, doesn't work anymore.

This is usually a router configuration issue. The router has to be configured to match your new broadband settings.

For example, your old DSL may have required some kind of login which was entered into the router. For most broadband cable connections, you set the router to get an IP address automatically.

Re-run the router Setup Wizard. You can download it here:

Dear Friend,
You must be trying the WEP -OPEN.
try WPA-PSK and put in your customized password.
Before making any changes in the system remove all the cables from the router and reset the router once and try to configure the network with WPA- PSK.
It should work.
If negative plz contact your ISP

Router Won't connect to internet

The cable modem sometimes register the hardware MAC address of the connected device. So your PC may be registered and it won't accept the router now. Connect the WAN port of the router to your cable modem and power the modem off and on again. It should re-register the connected device and now your router should work.

Router not speaking to modem

you need to change dhcp from the modem to the router to be a different network than what your router hands out via dhcp. you will also need to set dns up in the router to forward to the upstream modem.

2300 router not sending signal or allowing flow to computer

First unplug router, turn off computer. Then plug ethernet into router then power up. Allow time for router to recognise internet connection and boot up completely. Then plug second ethernet into computer then power up computer. Allow enough time for the router to recognise computer and the computer to recognise router. You should be able to access internet within a few minutes. If not you might want to verify that the router is not outdated and fully functioning.

Dell TrueMobile 2300

Before you throw it, save all the settings in router and try a re-start or there is normally a re-set button somewhere to press and set it back to factory settings. If the wireless re starts re-load previous settings. Please rate solution.
