Am I able to scan a picture into my computer. I have windows 7, the model is a mfc-5440cnz and do you need ink to do this? thank you for help

The best way to scan images to save on yourcomputer is to use the scanner software on the computer. Not the scan functionon the scanner.
You don't say what type of scanner software you have but usually scannersoftware works this way:
1) Place photo on scanner
2) Open scanner software
3) Using the software, Initiate scan
4) Name the Scanned item and save it to your desired location/folder
Note: some applications will automatically save to --My Documents--My Pictures
5) Repeat process for each pic to be scanned

Also, if you are just scanning, it should not matter what the ink situation is.

I am having troubles scanning pictures. When I press the scan button, nothing happens. How do I scan my pictures to go onto my computer?

My MP470 scans best useing this method: click start, click all programs, take Canon utilities, take MP navigator EX and Mp navigator EX again, scan/import should be chosen, if not choose it, have your pic on the platen and click photos/document, on the next screen click scan, after scan make selection from screen, click save, make selection as to where you want to store your pic. Browse and choose "my pictures" if no other desire. good luck and have fun.

How to scan with hp officejet j4680

Hi,

Please install the printer software and try to scan via the installed software from the computer. Or, start scan using scan button from printer; after installing software.

There is no "Scan to Computer" option on my printer

Hi
It was my solution which was sent as clarification request.
Choose "Scan&Print" . It creates a file and saves. you have to find the location by doing a search.

Getting to just scan pic into the pc

First of all ensure that you have all of the drivers for both the printer & scanner installed on your PC. You will also need the Epson Scan utility installing. These should all be on the disks that came with the printer or are available to download from Epson:
http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&oid=106004&prodoid=63075469&infoType=Downloads&platform=All

To scan a picture into your PC, just click on the Epson scan icon on your desktop (or from within your Start menu's). Place the picture to be scanned face down under the scanner lid and press the scan button. Don't forget to save your picture before exiting the scan utility. Please take a moment to rate this solution. Thanks.

Trying to scan a picture

if your using the "scan" button on the panel of the computer it wont work, in order for the button to work you need to install the software.

if your trying to scan from the pc and you cant scan, try these:
1. right click on the solution center icon on your desktop
2. go to properties
3. click on open file location
4. search for hpscnvw.exe
5. right click on that application then send to desktop
6. now when it is on your desktop, use and click on that icon everytime you want to scan

EPSON DX4450

1- Is software loaded? try reloading it.
2-check to make sure it is selected as the printer to print to.
File - print - click on epson then print
3- Try going to My computer - printers and faxes see if it's there then double click on it go to scan picture

sometimes it will not recognize the scan button on the printer, probably because there is a problem with the driver, but it will recognize it through the pc.

good luck
