We had an 3.5 mm audio cable plugged into the back. Pulling that did the trick for us.

Unfortunately Bose will not release their schematics or parts lists, effectively giving them a monopoly on repairs. According to their web site, www.bose.com, they will repair most Wave radios for $100 or give you $200 credit towards the purchase of a new set. Check your options before you spend the big bucks though. A new HD radio, with better sound and a MUCH lower price, might be a better choice than repair of a problem prone Bose.

Bose does not release their parts lists or schematics, effectively
creating a monopoly for parts and repairs. In fact, their web site
says that the Bose factory is the only option for service or repair.
They used to list a flat rate repair charge on the web site, but
removed it - probably because it scared too many people. Their
troubleshooting guide (below) might help, but it's very simplistic.

Before you invest in expensive factory repair on one of these trouble
prone sets, you might want to investigate the new HD radios -- better
sound at a MUCH lower price.

To resolve this issue, try one or all of the following:

    • Make sure your Wave® music system is powered up.

    • Check the volume level. It may be too low to hear. Try turning it up to at least 30

    • Verify that nothing’s plugged into the headphone jack on the back
of the system. Connecting a device to the headphone jack mutes the
system’s speakers. The headphone jack is the same size as the FM
antenna jack and the AUX IN jack. Be sure not to confuse these jacks
      when making connections

    • Reset the Wave® music system by disconnecting the power cord from the wall for one minute, then plug the system back in

SOURCE: no power up

Considering that power is present, popping sound is caused by a faulty Q401, 5V supply for display.

Good Luck.

SOURCE: Non-working CD in Bose wave radio

Try replacing the battery on the bottom of the system - alot of people miss it because you have it constantly plugged into the mains, but replacing this (somehow) re-sets the system, and 9 times out of 10 solves the issue.

SOURCE: My 10 year old Bose wave radio quit working.

There's a line fuse inside the radio, mounted on a PC board. CAUTION: disconnect the set from power before opening the case or poking around inside. The fuse could be bad, but these sets are notorious for losing the power transformer. If the fuse is ok then you are looking at a $100 repair fee from Bose. You might want to check out the new HD radios -- better sound, MUCH lower price.

No sound Bose wave

I took mine back to the Bose store and they gave me credit on my Wave that was about ten years old toward a new CD wave radio. I would recommend taking it to the Bose store and see what they can do for you.
