XANTREX S M Inverter off grid (I need a delayed start )

I hsve a customer, he has a small diesel generator, for topping
up his batteries if no sun or snow covering solar panels.

Block heater cct is off until inverter calls for gen start
via internal relay R7Y
Block heater runs for 30mins then signals generator to start.

My problem is R7Y goes opens if it senses no A/C
because it told gen to start. Ideas? VW MIKE

I have solar panels that put out a little more voltage then they are rated at,and they keep faulting out my grid tie inverter.I need a resister to knock down the voltage about 8 volts, got any ideas?

I like to ask, is the voltage from the solar panel messure with some load connected or is open circuit, normally solar panels produce high voltage than the working system, the reasson for that is to have Amperes in of to charge the batery, these is related to the size and power generated by the panel.
No need a resistor or in any case use a voltage regulator to prevent over charge.

I have a Xantrex 2400-12 two years old, installed off grid in a vacation home in Mexico, a service call is not an option. The inverter quit working, flashes "888" and shuts off. I have a trace...

First off I am not in this for the money. If your not satisfied with the information below simply reject the solution so that you can hear from other experts.

The 888 flashing is telling you that the inverter has lost DC power momentarily. This can be from broken strands in the battery cables or an internal wiring problem in the inverter. Check the battery cables for corrosion. Remove the terminals check for battery post corrosion and visually inspect each bable to terminal connection from the battery connector to the inverter DC Power connections.
Here is something to keep in mind. A DC power cable only needs one tiny strand of wire to indicate voltage on a meter. However, if there is any load on the AC side that tiny strand of wire that is giving you the proper DC reading may in fact drop well below 10.5 V DC and simply cause the unit to automatically shut off even with no load.

Explain your situation to Xantrex using the link below and they may be able to help you due to the fact that you do not have a local "post warranty service provider" in Mexico:

Hello, thank you for sharing your problem with us, I would personally be happy to provide the most accurate and up to date information for you.

Hello, your direct question is "Do I need to replace again the inverter or are the settings off-I went to factory default?"

There is no need to change the inverter at this time. When you set the device at factory default, it caused a MISCONFIGURATION between the "Diasy Chained" inverters.

SOLUTION

1. CAUTION - YOUR WORKING WITH HIGH VOLTAGE REGULATION AND INVERTERS

2. POWER OFF YOUR DEVICES AS LONG AS IT IS SAFE TO DO SO.

3. ONLY POWER UP YOUR INVERTERS FIRST

4. PROVIDE SEVERAL MINUTES WAIT TIME UNTIL EACH OF YOUR INVERTERS ARE COMPLETELY BOOTED

5. FEEL FREE TO INITIATE THE AC ALTERNATING CURRENT SOURCE AT THIS TIME

6. WAIT SEVERAL MINUTES TO ALLOW THE CURRENT TO RUN THROUGH THE COMPLETE CIRCUIT OR INVERTER DAISY CHAIN.

PLEASE RETURN IF YOU REQUIRE FURTHER HELP ON YOUR SAME PROBLEM.

THANK YOU

Why does my dr3624 only put out 98 vac, its rated at 120 vac? i'm off grid and my batteries are new 24 volt

Are you using a true-RMS voltmeter to measure the DR's output? The DR's output is modified sine wave, and a cheap average reading AC voltmeter will give you a reading of 90 volts or so. Alternately, if you have an oscilloscope, you can verify that the modified sine wave is around 170V peak to peak. It should alternate in segments of -170, 0, +170, 0... The duty cycle and peak voltages will vary with the inverter load.

please check the voltage your generator is supplying to the to the inverter because a high voltage and frequency can make the relays in the inverter to make clicking sounds, and also do not allow your inverter batteries to run completely low before you charge it

Same problem

First make sure your your installation phasing is correct. You can easily do this by first checking the power at the micro wave socket as explained below with the gen. or land power and then see if you get the same reading to ground connection to connection with the inverter on if it is different swap your input AC from your inverter to your power grid

If that is OK

Check to make sure your microwave socket and or/ the device plug are phased properly to ground. The white wire should have 0 ohm continuity to the device ground. The wall socket should have 110vac between ground and the black(small hot side) wire and 0 vac to the common (big white) side.

My trace inverter SW2512 will only allow pass through power.

First problem is caused by the new generator producing too high a frequency... 65 Hertz is above the inverter limit. Adjust the governor down to 60 or 61 Hertz.
Breaker tripping may be due to excessive current draw from the Honda. Check the max AC input menu on the inverter. It might have been set lower to avoid overloading the original generator but if DC power was turned off at any time while you were changing generators, the inverter would have returned to it's default settings which may exceed the Honda's capacity.
